Hi everyone, hopefully we will get the clear for us to move further north on Monday after we get the wifes results back and we thinking of the mitchell caravan park in Bourke or the free camp out of bourke about 70klms nth of bourke, can anyone advice on either please.
I don't know the Mitchell c/p, but Kidmans C/P about 7kms north of Bourkes seems to be the favorite, also has cruises on the Darling River at the back of the camp.
You can get a combined ticket for the cruise, the outback centre and ????(forgotten) which is good value.
Dont' forget to visit Fred Hollows grave in the local cemetery, well worth the visit.
We stayed at the Mitchell CP because we travel with 2 dogs. It is ok but in need of refurbishment. Seemingly the guy who owns Kidmans owns this one and doesn't spend much money on it. We were happy with it but very disappointed with Bourke. It is a lovely old town going to wreck and ruin and is completely shuttered at night and over the weekend. Does have a good bakery that sells good pies. The new tourist info place is worth looking at though we didn't go to view the exhibition. Our friends did and said you ned lots of time to see it all.
Go out to the Kidman Park & there is a camp site a few ks further which we checked out earlier this year- nothing there but redclaw! From memory it is called May s Bend
