I'm a little nervous about the first section, which is via Gatton-Clifton Road. I haven't been along this way on my own, and because it'll be my first run since Lulu's modifications.
But I'll be keeping touch with my friends in Toowoomba along the way. They'll come to my rescue if needs be.
Have a great time. Are you going thru Clifton and not going up the range?
Didn't realise it was on. If I wasn't flying to Pert next week I'd be tempted to come out for a few days myself. Now that I'm a part time working man my free time is somewhat more restricted.
Yes, Jack. I don't need to go all the way to Clifton, but am taking the Gatton-Clifton Road to avoid the range. There's a couple of other roads off there that will take me through to the highway.

Yes, we've known each other for over 50 years! Thanks Carol, and V too,,, I know he's keen to see how Lucy & Lulu perform.
And thanks to all for the good wishes. I'll be sure to log on tomorrow night to report in.
Well, I've now been happily wined and dined at my friends at Highfields, on the northern side of Toowoomba.
I had no problems with the drive up. Gatton-Clifton Road was was a lovely drive with just a couple of sections of roadworks.
The male of this house thinks I'm being a little paranoid about not going up the range..he thinks my Lucy would have no problems towing Lulu up the range. Maybe, but I liked the alternate route.
I took some photo's of the free camp at Hiefer Creek on my way past. I'll upload them tomorrow. There were about 5 or 6 caravans there.
Good to see you have done the first part of your trip Beth and got there safely. You do what you are comfortable with.
I'm sitting at home feeling so crook, woke up like it this morning. Hopefully will feel a lot better tomorrow.
Oh bugga Marj. That's no good. I'm staying here until Friday morning when I continue on to Jondaryan. I've been wanting to visit these friends for ages, so going to Jondaryan was a good excuse to stop in.
Hope you haven't got what I have at the moment Marj. Night before last, just on dark, my throat started to get tickly. Had to pick a friend up from Hospital yesterday morning, but after dropping him home, went to bed, and have been there all day, 'til now. Will be going back soon. Still have a nuisance cough.
Woke up with a terrible headache and upset tummy, very tender and running to the loo all day. Spent the afternoon in bed, feeling a bit better now. My temp got up to 38.6 but back to normal now. Hopefully will wake up tomorrow and its all back to normal.
I'm now settled in at our camp by the creek at Jondaryan Woolshed. The wind is quite cold, but warm enough out of the wind. I haven't been up to the festivities yet.

Now I know what this festival is all about. Watching Great South East just now and it came on. Would have been last years as it showed all that happens and what facilities are available, costs etc. For some reason I thought you were going to a music festival Beth. You can see I don't know Qld very well.
This is actually the first Jackie Howe Festival. And I didn't know who Jackie Howe was until a couple of years ago. He was a 'gun' shearer..ie: very fast..way back I don't know when. I could google, I guess, and make it look like I'm really smart. So this festival is all about the shearing. They have another one they call the Heritage Festival, which has now been moved to May.
Yesterday, before I arrived, there was shearing going on in the sheds. They'd set up a ramp and viewing platform above the shearing so one could look down and see what they were doing. I didn't go up yesterday, and found out today that there was only shearing competitions on, though not in the same place, hence no viewing platform. So when my son and family came out just for the day today, Dan had to have his daughter on his shoulders so she could see what was going on. I don't know why the didn't keep the viewing platform going for the 3 days. Seemed strange to me. It was much busier today than yesterday.
Anyway, my grand-daughter had a ride on the old cart pulled by Clydesdales, a miniature train ride, and a tractor ride. There was also several different heritage cottages, blacksmiths, leather saddle and whip makers, old machinery and music.
