Query about selling our Campervan

We are considering upgrading and want to know the best method for privately selling our Campervan.  biggrin

It appears that it would be best to sell the Camper ourselves and not trade it in, we would like to know what experience some of our fellow nomads have had and with which sites.  We are located near Caboolture and have tried 'Gumtree' but so far have only had scam replies.   no

Our camper is a 1996 Toyota LWB high-roof (not pop-top).

Any thoughts or recommendations would be very much appreciated.   smile

There are a lot of campers on gumtree, and I find it the best for looking for adds. The picture system is also the easiest to use.Could you pm me the details of your van. Thanks, Bill

I would suggest Caravanners Fourm  you are welcome to use the For Sale section as a member.

There are online Sale Forums, Gumtree, Quokka, Car Sales.com

Then there are the weekend newspapers which have substantial sale pages.

Most shopping centres have a For Sale board where you can pin a notice.

Some radio stations have a Trading Post (our local in Mandurah does anyway) where you can reach the listening audience.

Many folk utilise a vacant block on a busy road to display cars & vans etc with a for sale sign. (some councils disapprove though).

you could put it on Consignment at a van sale yard, pretty much last resort though.

You are only limited by your imagination.

Cheers Neil

Mines on the market in WA, presently on Gumtree, and yes you do get scammers, especially if you list phone numbers (emails have to go through gumtree and they onforward them to you, the enquirer does not get your email address and replies through Gumtree to them are the same. Even then you get some that try it on, but there is a report link to Gumtree on the message if it looks suspicious.

Trading Post (a cost but not too expensive), Quokka as Delta said, State newspapers (eg; Sunday Paper), carsales.com (add expensive at $99 basic). Recently I spoke to 3 different car and RV selling yards (not about mine) and all said the market is very depressed at the moment and the worst they had ever seen in WA. This was also told to me recently when I enquired about selling mine on consignment, you practically have to give it away (with the one I tried, you agree on a set base price (what you get) and they add their cream on top, however if the price you want is too high once they have added their bit they won't take it on unless you drop your price. Suggest not at good option at the moment.

Good luck with the sale! Sign on the vehicle might help too when running around shopping etc.....
