Well here I am back in Tocumwal after 16 days on the river.
Wonderful trip but the company wasn't so good.
he reversed into a hugh steel pylon......i went flying....landed hard and hurt my side/ribs something......has been very painful.
however that aside it was an awesome trip. The river is now very high and we can't get under the railway bridge. Stan walked to his home and got his car so he could take the canoe back.
hoping that the river will fall that 4-6" o/night.
I am looking forward to setting up camp again tho. Will be nice to be on my own again.
Lots of free camping spots all the way down on the victorian side of the river. I think I could live on the banks of this river for a couple years.
Saturday is exactly 6 months since I started out on this adventure.
Have learnd a lot and refined equipment and loved every minute of it.
Good to see you back Dawa, gee wiz the river must be high if you can't get a house boat under the bridge. I would love to see it high there. I was up there a few years back and you could just about walk across to the other side in parts. The Murray is a great place to be. Mmmmm, thinking thinking.

It seems to me that since Stan was good enough to give you a free experience on his houseboat it's pretty rude of you to publicly "diss" him. Without him you wouldn't have had this "great" river cruise. I bit of respect is what's called for here.
Maybe you should stay by yourself. Whenever you mix with others you are rude to them and then denigrate them to others.
This is how you were when I opened my house to you. Interesting to note you don't seem to get along with anyone.
Happy Trails...

Hi Dawa
My grandfather was a water commissioner on the Murray, Darling and Murrumbidge Rivers. My mum grew up living in a tent along these rivers. In fact she was born in a tent. They lived on rabbit and fish. It is an amazing story. If she was alive today she would only be 78, so not that long ago. I can remember her telling me she did not own a pair of shoes until she was 5 yrs old. Do think what she achieved in her life after that beginning is amazing............maybee that is where my nomadic desires come from!
So free caming along the Murray would be wonderful, has been happening for such a long time.

actually yesterday he apologised for being so very rude.
His son thanked me profusely for going with him as he is worse with family it seems and he has been asking for someone to go with him.......and no-one would.
I realised it was part of his medical condition.......nothing wrong with venting.
this is not the place to flame people but i found you rude as well.

we lived on rabbit and yabbies and watercress ;squated in old houses.
First pair of shoes when i went to school. We used to only put them on just before we got to the school tho so they would last longer.
Dawa, which town are you in staying at an Apex park. Where ever it is you can 't be too far from Greens Lake. You can have all the free camping you want there for as long as you like, public toilets available. Plenty of room, its stretches for miles.

I didn't think your comments were disrespectful either Dawa. Glad you had a good time on the houseboat, it is something to do on my bucket list. Maybe one day!
