Fires in NSW

aussietraveller wrote:

There are currently some 81 fires in NSW with 18 not controlled at this time, 12currently being controlled and13 are contained but not out dont know about the rest.

the RFS has 609 fire fighters actively fighting these fires

217 fire trucks committed

27 Firefighting aircraft

and the fire season has not oficially started yet tomorrows strong winds will be from the west which is the worst direction for Firefighters in the Blue Mountains.

If you are currently travelling and freecamping please be very careful especially in the Riverena and west of the Blue Mountains where there are several grass Fires.

Yes got to hope no active fire jumps the containment lines near Bowen Mountain west of Sydney.

Thanks mate, seems like a early start to the season. Hopefully all over by time we get back down there.

I plan on crossing the Blue Mountains on my way south of Sydney.  I hope the fires are under control end of next week or I will have to find an alternate route.

Stay safe people in those areas.

Cheers!

 Chris,

I doubt you will have problems. They're doing hazard reductions over the weekend, weather permitting. There are quite a few different ways to get where you're going.

They hit Bowen Mtn with so many trucks and firefighters from the area and surrounding districts and 4 choppers.

gypsy rover there are no fires in the Blue Mountains as of Thursday night there are two hazard reductions planned for this weekend with one at Warrimoo and one at Faulconbridge at the worst there may be some smoke around the highway but should not be a major issue all the same drive to the conditions and be safe. have a good trip
