The gas guy turned up today to check our gas oven 15 imns earlier than he said & that was good in my eyes,anyway I explain to him once again what the problem was flame not being able to be regulated in the oven, anyway about 20 mins later I go out to see how it is going, & find that he did not listen to me, he was playing with the cooktop. When I asked him why he was checking that he said I thought that was what you wanted me to check.................. No I would like you to check the oven flame.
Periodicaly I go out & check oh yes we have the oven out oh what a mess, I notice that he has a dustpan & brush with him ahh this is a good sign he will clean up after himself,has the oven on the dining table to put it back together, thats fine not a lot of room in the MH to do that sort of thing, but then I see that he has actually cut the top of the table. Well I really saw red but no I will be a nice lady & not say anything after all he does have his own dustpan & brush so of course he will clean up.
I go back into the house for awhile to continue packing & then I see that he is doing the invoice so I go & check to make sure everything is working as it should be & yes it is.he says he will clean up while i get the money for him, so as I am happy with everything I pay him & he goes away, I then go to lockup MH & thinks I will just double check. Nothing cleaned up & dirty greasy finger prints everywhere
Sorry that I have really gone on about this but I needed to vent my frustations out somewhere. I just hope that the guy that is coming to fit the cameras next week cleans up after himself,
Thanks Doug my thoughts exactly not paying until Jan is happy, there tradesmen out there that complain they can't much work & we all know but they have not woken up to themselves yet.
I guess I have to wonder whether the job was done on an hourly rate or a quote (inclusive of cleanup), I would be furious if quoted. If hourly rate, then I might be inclined to think it is saving me money doing it myself. My being a cheapskate. lol
Some people just go beyond what is expected and get recommendations and hopefully good for business, others!
Janette It was hourly rate, but I only got this guy to do the job as he was recommended by one of the local RV places, guess who won't be using them again
Is the oven working now Robyn, have you checked it? I would not have paid until he had shown me it was working well, then you would have seen the mess he left.
Thanks Sheba I did contact the company concerned & I let them know how unimpressed I was with the guy they recommended & of course they where full of apoligies.
There another side to this the person who did the job may have not cleaned up to save you cost ,Has I would like to clean up myself and always offer to do so , So that I am not paying big money for a Trade person cost to do cleaning , On the other the Trade person should have offered you the choice
He wasted some time initially, because he hadn't listened to what was required Brickies. If he wanted to save the client money, that should not have happened anyway.
