Hello Longreach

Got into Longreach this afternoon. It's got a nice feel to it and we dropped into catch up with Spida at the Stockmans hall of fame. Had a lovely talk and time with her, she is one nice lady. We are at the Longreach waterhole with about 30 other travelers. It's a bit dry and dusty but, what the heck it will do for a day or two. Will be headed out on Sat towards Blackall way. take care out on the roads guys & Gals as you go B & C

Gday...

If ya turn south at Ilfracombe to Isisford, there is an excellent camp on the Barcoo River on the east side of town. Toilets down at the camp. I think it is still $2/night - $10/week. No limit. Register at Info Centre. Free showers in the block near the Information Centre.

Then, of course, if ya turn south at Barcaldine instead, there is the camp on the river at Blackall (it's in CAW) pay $5/night at the Info Centre. Toilets near the camp and free showers up near the main street a little way.

And I wrote up a good one at Wyandra (between Charleville and Cunnamulla) in Free camps sub-forum on here as well. Depends on ya timing, your preference, and obviously direction of travel. Enjoy and travel well.

cheers - John

Treat yourself to a trip on the paddlesteamer at sunset - they pick you up from the free camp, boat ride up and down the river, drovers camp with dinner - yumbo - a barefoot bush poet, music and entertainment - damper and billy tea - back on the bus and home - good value in our opinion. But take your own drinks with you, bit pricey - would you believe they have to pay a "cruise tax" on every drink they sell!!!!smile
