Pulled up at Dirranbandi CP tonight after having a look around the Surat, St George areas today. Bit on the hot side was up to about 36 today but now back to 25 in the shade of a tree. Tomorrow head for Lightning Ridge and in the process will roll into NSW. It's been a great time in Queenskand. We have seen so much and made new friends along with catching up with old ones as well. We will be back but not sure when as we head for SA next year and Wa after that but we will be back. With a little bit of luck maybe the roads will have improved as well although I am not holding my breath. After Lightning Ridge we head East via Moree, inversely, Grafton and onto Kempsey to catch up JC and Kiwi-as. Will be making detour to Goondiwindi to pick up a new satellite decoder.. Take care one an all.

We to are about to leave Qld, we are leaving St George tomorrow morning and going to stay at the general store at Hebel, near the border. From there we plan to go down to Lightning Ridge on Sunday so hopefully we can catch up if thats ok, we have not met fellow nomads since we set out from Melbourne back in August. Like you we have met some interesting characters and nice couples who we are sure to meet again sometime. Take Care.
Hey you guys - at Hebel make sure you have one of their pies - they reckon they are the best in the country!!
Enjoy the Ridge - she is a good place!!!!! The bore bath at about 4pm every afternoon is a must!! As is the mine that has been carved - cannot for the life of me remember the name of it - that's a worry!!!!

Hi Brian & Cheryl, - we had a hot drive to Hebel staying at the back of the general store, yes we are ok, hope things are good with you to, queensland has been good, dry and warm (little to warm now) slowly making our way south back to melbourne as the wife has another specialist appointment in December and around Feb head towards the west. We should make lightning ridge before lunch so will have a look at Crocodile caravan park on the web unless we hear from you. Take care.
Apparently according to the good lady wife the general store has a restaurant and I was told we are going - hope shorts and boots are ok?.
Hi once again, we are settled in at the Croc CP. it's ok, a little squeezed in and basic but that's fine we will be out on Monday. Going to have a look at some of the mine tours this afternoon. The drive here was a bit on the hard and hot side but We've had lunch, showered so all is well. Will keep an eye open for you tomorrow morning. If you want call me on 0403741625 for a quick call so we know where you are when you arrive.
Take care and stay safe on the road

Not surprising you can't remember the name of "The Chambers of the Black Hand"
Wonder where they got that monika? Should have asked!
We went down yesterday afternoon. Amazing! Well worth the trip and learning a bit about the history and process of opal mining, the guys were quite passionate about life here too which makes it all come alive!
all the best
Cheryl
