I'm currently in Narrabri, NSW and have some time to kill and thinking of fishing. In NSW us young (54yo) Grey Nomads have to pay $30 a year to fish. Do you guys and gals fish and do you actually catch eatable fish? Or should I just sit on the bank for a bit then go to Cole's for a fillet for dinner?
Come to Qld- no licence required! When down south, i buy a licence and catch enough fish for me and others- ask the people at Greens lake. We had a good feed of salmon and bream caught at Tathra, last ime I was there.I don,t mind paying the licenceif the money goes to better facilities, at ramps or jetties or fisheries research Bill
If you have a pension card you do not need a licence in NSW (unless they have changed the rules from last year)
It is worth having a go even if you have to pay. We are at lake Keepit and although haven't had much success here I did catch a 10kg murray cod at copeton dam (unfortunately out of season) a couple of weeks ago and a lot of redfin which have a very nice sweet flakey flesh.
I've caught 20 fish in Brisbane Waters near Gosford NSW, most of which had to go back, too small, but we had a feed from the good ones. I caught a few at Hawkes Nest/ Tea Gardens but 4 were legal to keep and eat. Great fun!
