Hi Marge, sounds like a good trip down. If you stop at Gilgandra let me know, will pop over and say hello. Valr

I should be able to get away next weekend, hoping no more hiccups.

Spent today repacking the van and working out the best spots for everything I NEED  to take.

Will spend next week getting my stitches out and age pension forms into Centrelink.

Will head out to Ban Ban Springs and on to Kingaroy, do an Aldi shop and head on to Dalby. From there will head to Cecil Plains, Millmerrin and Inglewood.

Thinking I would like to zig zag the way south, so might head over to Stanthorpe and down to Tentrefield or maybe straight down to Texas and back to Goondiwindi. From there down to Moree before heading west to Walgett then back into Gilgandra.

Still thinking about the rest.

Yep, sounds good Marj.

I haven't had much chance to read threads as much as I do when home, so I hope I haven't missed anything important.

You have a safe and relaxed trip. smile

Enjoy your trip and catch up later Beth.

I'm looking forward to getting back out on the road Doug. Have itchy feet now.

After Gilgandra will have to be Dubbo, Parkes and Forbes. Then West Wyalong. Wouldn't mind heading out to Hay from there and coming back in to Deni, then either Finley, Tocumwal and Greens if I have the time or if I don't have the time it would be Deni and straight down to Echuca.
Have to be at my daughters no later than 15th November.

If I get away on Saturday I will have 20 days.

I will take photos during the day and post at night Judy. I usually go straight down the Newell so looking for a bit of variation.
See you at Greens.

Hi Val, I knew you were in that area, just not exactly where and had intended sending you a message. Would love to catch up again.
Will let you know when I am closer to Gilgandra. Have even written your name in my camps book so I don't go past.

Had hoped to try and get down to you before you left Marj.  Think I'd be silly to try after today.  Overdid it a bit, and am paying for it tonight.

Never mind, I'll make it down next year some-time.

Have a great trip.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Don't you dare overdo it Sheba. You have no reason to push yourself. Just get better. I will come up and see you when I get back in the new year.

Sounds all good Marj and how nice it will feel for you to be on the road. smile

We stay at a free camp south of Goondiwindi, North Star, Camps 6#:891.

It looks like a roadside stop with a toilet but if you take the little dirt road as you pull into the stop, you can get in behind the stop in the trees.

Its private and quiet, lots of shade if needed and you can have a fire. If you park up in the roadside stop, its noisy with trucks etc.

We have stayed there a couple of times and its a good overnighter.

Thanks for that firefly. yes I have stayed there, I think at least 3 times. I usually park just back from the toilets where there is a couple of rows of trees and can get in between them, gives a bit of shelter from the truck noise and still close to the loo.
I don't think I would like to park down the dirt road unless I was travelling with others.

Will keep a look out for your Barrie and write on here my whereabouts in case any grey nomads in the same area.

Thanks Gerty, will do. Thats why I want to take my time. I can then see things I have flown past in a hurry in the past, get good photos and post a record on here.

If you stop at Moree the caravan park is worth it to have a luxurious soak in the thermal pools

Thanks Mary. Will look into that.

So far this is my plan.
Not sure which day I'm leaving but hopefully next weekend.
First stop Wooroolin #561

Next stop Kumbia #566

Next stop Cecil Plains #622

Next stop Omanama #796

Next stop Texas # 802 (if thats the one beside the river just before the bridge)

Next stop North Star #891

So thats the first 6 nights taken care of. Will work out the rest later but sure its down to Moree then west to Collarenebri, coming back into the Newell at Gilgandra.

If you don't have to go back to the Newell at Gilgandra, for something different, what about going from Walgett through Brewarrina to Bourke, then Cobar, Hillston, Hay, etc.
Lot less trucks that way.

I think thats the way Beth went wendy. Thought about it but not sure I will have enough time and don't think I could afford that much petrol this trip.

Welcome all ideas though. By putting my itinerary up here I'm hoping others with come up with tips and ideas I might not have thought of.

The one at Texas is the one by the river - 1k out of town - dump point and water at the council depot - end of main street, follow signs. The other one near there is called Bonshaw (I think) - enjoy your trip.

Thanks Jules, I'm going to try for the one by the river close to Texas, it sounds nice. Will use the showers in Texas on the way there.

It was damned hot out there Marj, and would be even hotter now. For anyone who feels the heat, I reckon Winter or late Autumn would be better.
