Casterton Vic

We had a wow of a night at Lake Bolac last night, the caravan was rockin'! biggrin

No, not for that reason. wink The wind was blowing a gale, and then the rain came too. We were on a bit of a hill with no trees to protect us. I couldn't pull the top down because the canvas just wouldn't fold in with the wind blowing. All was as it should be in the morning though. Nothing broken.

The drive from there to here at Casterton was just amazing! Beautiful rolling green hills and deep gullies. We stopped along the way to check out Wonnon Falls NW of Hamilton.

This is Island Park CP, CAW 6 #645. It may be a council park, because it's between the Bowls Club and the footy grounds, and adjacent to the swimming pool. CAW say to pay at the visitor centre, but that's outdated by about 2 years. There's a number to ring for a code for the amenities and laundry, and apparently he'll come by later to collect the fee of $22.

It's very well laid out, with power, water etc, and there's only one other caravan and a small motorhome, so plenty of room. We needed a CP today for washing. There's one washer and a dryer. And a big Foodworks not far away.

On to Robe tomorrow. Very excited about that. Looks like we'll have to use a CP again, as the camps aren't suitable for my Lucy.

I think Camps AW have a facility to report errors and updates so they can include them in their regular updates and future editions.

enjoy your travels,

Jim

Yes, we're seeing a lot of new countryside but we're certainly not travelling fast. We usually don't get away until after 9am, and we try to be at our next camp by 2pm, so not that many kms in a day. We'll spend a couple of days in the Robe/Beachport area.

Some days I find I'm tired before we reach our destination, and sis takes over the driving for me, while I close my eyes for a bit. She likes driving Lucy. biggrin

Hopefully we'll still cross paths somewhere Doug.

As I recall Robe, there is an Apex Park on the waterfront with good toilets where you can free camp. Also a Dump Point there as I recall which is near truck wash area. Sorry I can't be more specific.
