Moved on to Greens Lake Camps6 #475 and called into Shepparton to catch up with my shopping list, blown the budget big time but won't be able to spend for a while so will easily catch up. No site fees and no driving will improve the finances easily over a couple weeks. Arrived early afternoon setting up by the boat ramp and couldn't see any others from the forum but will go for a walk about tomorrow asking the question. Have put up the annex and the walls for the first time in ages, can't remember the last time I pulled out the walls. Have the shower ensuite erected and tied down very well the wind was high this afternoon giving me a hard time putting it up. Am now set up to stay for a while and looking forward to seeing some forum members setting up nearby. John
It is a time consuming exercise, just putting it up as an awning takes almost an hour and adding the walls increases that. Only because I intend to stay here for a while has the awning been converted into an annex.
It is attached to the van by a sail track and rolls up into a bag for travel, the end result is effective as you will see when you visit Greens.
If any of you are looking at Johns photos above. Look at the middle one, you can see the concrete boat ramp going down into the water. On the other side you can see two metal poles. Last year us Grey Nomads were lined up from those two poles all the way down past that first vehicle and the two white poles you can see. At times nearly to the first trees. Bumper to bumper and right on the grass edge. Open the door in the morning, still in bed and watch the mirror like lake with the sun glistening like crystals. Like having our own shrine to a wonderful peaceful world. Can't wait to get down there again and totally chillax. Oh the memories.
Hi John. Are you going to stay there for some longer time? Looks like very nice place to stay, especially if it is a free camping. Any good amenities around? I hope to move on from Adelaide about 20/Nov. It may by nice to meet there, if you are still around. Shepparton looks like good idea to go to for a little while. How's the fishing there, any good? How is Internet connection there? Which wi-fi would you'd advice to get, Telstra, Optus, or some other? I mean, for optimum of use and cost. my budget is at present a bit tight, due to all repair and preparation costs, so I'd opt for cheaper rather for a little while, if any reasonable connectivity there.
I love your rig. Must be a bit of mucking around to set it up, though. But looks very nice, and cosy :)

Hi Ziggy,
My plans at this time are to stay at Greens until the end of November when I have a booking to go to Tassie on the 30th. It certainly is a free camp but the only amenities are the flushing toilets and rubbish removal but as you noticed Shepparton is half an hour away for those with a seperate vehicle and there will be some of them.
I know little about fishing here but have been told that there are redfin, yellowbelly and lots of carp here and I intend to have a go at them when this wind dies down. As far as internet goes there is good signal with Optus and that is cheaper than Telstra. I have an Amaysim sim card using the Optus network which gets topped up as I use it for the phone and the internet costs me $19.50 per month for 2.5GB with no contract. It gets frustrating when there are some areas without internet whilst other have using Telstra.
Is that your washing bucket plunger sticking up in front of your windscreen John?
Your annex looks great !!
Vic,
you have a good eye for detail, yes it is my washing machine. Pity you are so far away would like to meet up again.
John
I am really envious of those able to make it John, I wish I could be there, I hope everyone who can make it have a good time, I am sure you will! That is the first time I have seen a pic of your annex erected (awning yes, but annex no), it makes it so much user friendly although I understand that you wouldn't do it unless staying for awhile.
Hello Scotty Its about half an hours drive I am meeting with Gloria & Daryl tomorrow for coffee so if you want to join us, meet at Gloria Jeans in High street at 10am Ken
Oh the memories. Can't wait to get back up there and catch up. Love the annex too John, looks cosy. In Sydney at the moment visiting unwell friend, fly home Friday, will be up as soon as I can make it. even though it has minimal ammeneties it is just a lovely place to be. So relaxing. Enjoy Tess
Tried my hand at fishing late yesterday after a nearby camper gave me a carp he had caught and I cut up for bait, as usual without success. I used my smaller rod with a float and plastic lure but it surfed back to the shore on the waves. Have been told that sweetcorn works well just applied to the hook and hopefully will have more success today without the wind.
Met up with forum member Ole Grizzly (Dennis) who is camped nearby and as usual we had plenty to talk about, not decided yet about today's activities.
Set up the TV and have many channels so that is good for a lengthy stay.
Ordered a business card from Vistaprint as have many Grey Nomad's and it will be sent to Shepparton Post Office later, have bought a business card holder from one of the cheap shops for $2 I had been putting them on a shelf which constantly got emptied as I pulled down a towel but now only the holder falls down. The card cost $2.50 for 250 on special plus $13 postage.
Eagerly awaiting more from the forum to arrive and get set up for an interesting get to gether.
Have emailed the organizers of the PeaceFest at Wynyard in Tasmania on the 22nd/23rd/24th February 2013 http://www.peacefestwynyard.com/ and intend to extend my Tassie trip to attend.

You and your van will fit in really well there John, I can see you heading for the massage tent now! lol
I tried to open that link on your post but my pc would not allow it, so copied and pasted the link and voila, it was ok.
It looks very interesting and should be a good event!
The more the merrier. I have been told that I have camped in the wrong spot right on the boat ramp because all weekend I will be driven nuts with the comings and goings but I have invested 3 hours getting set up here so will wait for the coming weekend before considering a move. Apparently the place empties out by Sunday afternoon leaving ample time to move before any GN influx on Monday.
I had a great time last year when I was there and very envious of you all meeting up there again :) Is Billeeee going to make it too?
I have started looking for a new rig, but now have to find one the new lady likes as well. We are looking at heading off later next year at this stage so long as work doesn't interfere with our plans :)
Have a great time up there and look fwd to seeing you soon
If nothing messes up my plans again, I'll be there, too. Sometime around the 19-th or 20-eth next month. I hope at least some of all these now present will still be there... I look forward to meet you all, and catch at least good size carp. they are great eating - if one knows they are eatable species :) Some are a little bony, especially the bottom dwelling species, they taste little muddy. But after pickled before cooking in lemon juice with salted water for half an hour or so, they taste just great fried, and with a sprinkle touch of lemon juice... After couple of weeks there, I go to Queensland, to see my friends for Christmas.
We are also in Echuca near Christie's Beach, we waited to have coffe with you but you never fronted!
Gloria & Daryl.
Who are you referring to Gloria and Daryl??
Ditto - who are you referring to Gloria and Daryl - a good idea is to use the quote button at the top of the screen on the post - then everyone will know who you are talking to or about - see ya !!
