Just spent the night on the foreshore at Redcliffe, Qld. Lovely place, the Council has down a treat with a salt water pool, many barbys, cold showers(couldn't find hot ones). The markets on Sunday morn were great, and lots of birdlife. Saw a pair of falcons, and top knot pidgeons, plus fed the local magpies. Good fishing, also. First place settled in Qld, 1824.one of. My old childhood places, which has got better not worse. See you soon, Bill

Redcliffe is one of our cycling destinations Bill - but did not know that it was the first settlement in Qld - you learn something every day, don't you?
My neice and her husband live on one of the canals at Newport - he has his boat at his private jetty ready to go all the time - loves his fishing, and has crab pots in all the time, right ontheir doorstep. It is a very ritzy area, million dollar properties.
Catch lots of fish Bill.

Gday...
I'm a little puzzled - non unusual actually .... but are you saying you spent the night on the foreshore at Redcliffe - meaning camped? I was unaware Redcliffe had been so generous - apart from the showground.
I must agree the Settlement Cove lagoon is a great place to while away the day and evening, in the summer especially. I lived in Kippa Ring back in the 1990s. The council constructed the Cove in the early 1990s - under considerable resistance by the ratepayers I might add. But it has turned out to be a real asset to the community - and attracts heaps of visitors to the Peninsular.
But I was unaware there was any 'free-camping' on the Redcliffe foreshore.
Cheers - John

I stayed in my slide on across the road from the copshop, and wasn,t harassed in any way. I wouldn't do it long term, though. It is the weekend, also. Bill

Gday...
OK ... now I see. That is a carpark. I was certainly surprised Redcliffe Council allowed camping anywhere on the foreshore. I reckon ya could get away with it with a campervan (slide-on) or maybe a small motorhome - but certainly not with a caravan
Cheers - John

One of the good thing about slideons, or motorhomes for that matter.I will be towing a trailer with the tinny and the postie bike on , next trip. That could make it more interesting. Bill
There are a couple of "free" camps around the peninsula - one on the south side just before you go onto the bridge - turn into the picnic area, follow to the end. The other one is near the yacht club - but you see people around Clontarf in the boat parking areas all the time, obviously staying overnight, some we have seen every time we have ridden our bikes up there.
Enjoy yourself there Bill - have a drive around the Newport Canal area - it is beautiful.

Forgot to say, Norval Park is about 80 klm south of 1770 on the road to Bundaberg. Turn off at Yandaran and it's aboujt 15 k from there.
