Son has been told he has to be in at the Bundy Hosp early tomorrow morning. He had ultrasound at Childers Hosp after having a gallstone attack. The Biggy hosp rang him today to say be at Bundy in the morning to have the stones removed.
Gallstones in the gallbladder, bile duct and pancreas duct. This is his first attack. I'm down here in Victoria, he's up in Qld.
What is the difference between the pancreas stone and the gallbladder stones, and why is it so much more urgent. Waiting to hear back from him to see whats happening, hoping the ex can help out, as he has the kids from today till Sun and its an hour to Bundy.
When I had my gallbladder out about 5 years ago, I had already had 4 attacks over 12 months before they decided to do anything about it.
Oh Marj - that's no good - but he will be fine - stones these days can be "blasted" sometimes - important thing it has been found, and treatment is on the way.
You stop worrying, and look after yourself - are you still not well? When are you heading out to Green's?
Tassy is a great spot.

Have spoken to him again. He rang and tried to put it off till next week as he has the kids. They said no way. It has to be done tomorrow. Its a timebomb waiting to go off and if he gets crook tonight he is to ring an ambulance immediately. Thankfully his ex is looking after the situation. I can't do anything from here and no way can I get back there in time to be of any help. The one they are worried about is a large stone in the pancreas duct, which is far more serious than normal gallstones. Yes thanks I had googled while waiting to hear from him. They will put an endoscope down and hope to dissolve. If that doesn't work they will have to go in and get it out.
Can't get to Greens yet Jules. A lovely old gentleman who was my neighbour when I lived here, passed away last week. His funeral is tomorrow. I feel I should go say my goodbyes to John. Such a lovely man. Also waiting on reply from bank either tomorrow or Monday. Might get out to Greens over the weekend, Thats the plan anyway.
Yes Marj - get out there - take your mind off things that can't be changed!! Whatever happens, will happen. You look after yourself. And good luck with the bank.

Hi Gerty, They are waiting to operate. He fasted all day yesterday for an ultrasound at 2pm only to be told they weren't doing anymore ultrasounds that day. Today will be a waiting day and a decision made tomrrow, Monday. He said they don't know what to do at this stage. His blood pressure was dangerously low and he is now on a saline drip. They have also talked of airlifting him to Brisbane. I'm thinking if they are going to operate they will take out the gallbladder while in there as there are stones in there and the bile duct. The major concern being a very large stone in the tube to the pancreas. I am thinking of heading back up on Monday but everyone is saying thats silly. He can get blue care in once he is home, etc etc. But I am his carer!! Not sure what to do at this stage so will wait and see what Monday brings.
Hope it all goes well for him tomorrow Marj - and that you are feeling a lot better - don't rush back - yes, you are his carer, but you are entitled to your holiday as well, he wouldn't want you to rush back, you know. As you say he can get Blue Care to help him every day.
Take care of yourself, or you will be no good to him when you do get back up there.

So sorry Marj. You know, at this stage there is nothing you can do, as the hospital is looking after him. You will be more use to him when he comes home, which might be a few weeks depending on how they decide to fix these stone up, and when/where they do it. That means your decision / trip home doesn't have to be hurried. Think it through, be safe in your travels. Praying for you. Rosie
Yeh, he doesn't want me to come home. You know him Jules, doesn't want to spoil my holiday. Will wait and see what happens, will ring Sam and book Myrtle in for a check over tomorrow and carry on as normal, unless things change. Will have a better idea after tomorrow and go from there. Now, in the last 15 minutes daughter here and her hubby have taken bubs to the hospital as he has come out in a strange rash. What next????
Bubs ok. Certainly has a strange looking rash all over his back and part of his front. Doc didn't think it was anything to worry about although not sure what it was. He's happy enough and its not worrying him.
Good about bubs, Marj. Calomine lotion, or cornflour (can get it in Johnson's baby powder now) is a great relief for rashes and itches - he may have touched a plant in the garden - my sons dog, for instance, is allergic to the bud of some plant - comes out in hives, poor little thing - just by brushing past.

Heard from son this morning. The stones have gone from the ducts which only leaves the ones in the gallbladder. They are going to zap them this afternoon. Thats great news and should be quite simple to do in comparison to an operation. Maybe lying there all weekend on the drip has been good for him.
I'm off to the doc at 3pm today. Tried a banana for breakfast which started it all up again.
That's great news for you Marj - and Steven - hope you are alright now - maybe a banana was the wrong thing to try - they are one of the most indigestible foods around - my son can't eat them at all, and he loves them, but they upset him badly. Grapes are good and maybe kiwi fruit.
Good luck with it all - and say get well to Steven for us!!!

Stephen is still waiting but all good. Had ultrasound today and also a ct scan with dye into his gallbladder. When the results come back from that will now be tomorrow he should be out by Wednesday. His ex will pick him up and his kids will be there for the weekend. Grandaughter is a great little helper so they will be ok. Will pass on your good wishes Jules.
I've been to the doctor, doing blood test and have to take in a sample tomorrow. Drink more water and can have an egg as good protein. Then go back and see doc on Friday.
Good news. They are sending him home today. He will get an appointment to go in to have his gallbladder removed in a month or so.
I've had all my tests and go back to doc next Monday for results.
Myrtle nearly didn't get me there to doc surgery this morning. Chugged and coughed getting started and cheugged all the way there. Can't wait for Thursday to see what the heck is going on.
Are they doing keyhole surgery . I had mind done with keyhole surgery and was home the next day and back at work a week later. So much better than the old way.
