I have a 55ltr waeco , and it works well, even goes down to -18c if I set it that low. Its draws about 2.5 amp an hr, and I ahve a 120 amp hr deep cycle attery and 120watts of solar panel. Battery lasts for 3 to 5 days before I ahve to start motor. I have tried 3 way fridges, but they don,t seem to work well in the tropics. Paid $600 for the waeco, about 3 years ago. Engels are also good, if a bit pricey.Bill

looking at an Evakool fridge/freezer. this is a mojor purchase for me.
does anyone have one?
Dawa
Hi Dawa, could you supply a little more detail as to your needs, ie, is it to be a 12v/240v car fridge etc, is it replacing one or is this your first purchase?
I have a waeco 60lt that has fridge/freezer but it really is best used for one or the other but perhaps other brands will work as advertised!!
Perhaps a second post on tech forum will assist your enquiry. I purchased my fridge as a factory second and have no issue's with its function and money saved.

are these the chest type ones?
the little one i have is a waeco and don't like it much even before it stopped working
Yes, its the chest version with a dual compartment for freezer(big), and chiller(small). The electronics don,t like water(same as any electronics, but the compresser is good, and I have done lots of miles with it on dirt and sealed roads.I have frozen kilos of fish with it. Just set it on 0deg. c, and it works great. If I buy another it will probably be an engel as they are more robust. Bill
Dawa, I have the Evakool 120litre 12V upright at our site at Burrendong. Has been running non stop purely on solar for about 12 months now (we leave frozen goods in it so that we always have tucker for rush trips. Also have a 50litre Evakool 240/12V chest fridge/freezer (car fridge) that we bought at the same time and use for travelling, shopping, etc. Very happy with both.

If you want an upright then i suggest you have a look at ,,, jlk outdoor discount store on ebay,,,,,,, enter 12v frig in the ebay search and you will find many friges,,,,,they have a 92l upright for about $600 has a
german compressor ,my personal opinion re the prices that the well
known brands charge is nothing short of highway robbery,,,,,the problem is they have had the market on their own for a long time but things are a changin and i for one wont pay their outrageous prices just a
suggestion to save a dollar,,,,PS I have no involement with any of them
