Babinda to Cooktown, via coast road

Plenty of roadworks to Daintree, bitumen, and lots of hills and turns to Cape Tribulations. The road from then on is dirt and bulldust, lots of it . Very dry at the moment. The road is 4WD ONLY, and there are some very steep hills, first gear on some in my 4wd diesel courier.Take the inland road=its all bitumen.., as I will tommorrow.Bill

We heard that the Bloomfield track was not being maintained in an attempt to restrict the number of users. It was definitely 4WD when we were on it about 4 years ago, probably worse now.
The funny thing was, Mr D was rather pleased with having "done" this road, but a Wicked Camper followed us, and got there ok!

We were on the Bloomfield in 2009 & again in July this year. It has deteriorated in places, the bridge over the Bloomfield Rv needs some serious work done on it but we still enjoyed the drive.
