Railton the town of topiary is the sign that greets the traveller so you could be aware of what to expect and sure enough there are examples of topiary almost everywhere from the main street to peoples gardens and a large display behind a shop selling wire frames and accessories.

We walked the length of the town from the pub up to the RSL and were amazed by the quality of the displays, I have taken many pictures and will post a sample just as soon as I leave Railton in favour of a location which will accept an internet signal from my Optus carrier.

Had an arrangement to meet up with Billeee & Jules at Railton Camps6 #219, a quiet town with free camping opposite the pub following the signs to the dump site. No amenities other than the dump site and a fresh water tap. Dougwe was critical of me not putting the state on my Camps references because the numbers are similar for each state reference and I take that point but anyone following my progress would know which state I was in. However I am in Tasmania having just disembarked from the Spirit of Tasmania.

Not sure of which direction we are going to take because for once I am not making those decisions and am happy to travel Tassie in tandem knowing that Jules has it all sussed out and in the end I will have seen an excellent collation of sites and scenes representing the best of Tasmania.

Posting from a market somewhere, Jules likes markets so Billeee has to go and I am using the opportunity to catch up with the posting.    John

Welcome to the forum Patty, good to see your first post. I know what you mean about stepping back in time, Tassie takes me back to Yorkshire and some of those beautiful hills and valleys that I took for granted and now 60 years later have probably been built out in the name of progress.

Look forward to catching up with you again, next time in Tassie.

John

Welcome from me too halfpint, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Sorry to go off topic a little there John.

That really does look a nice place indeed, I like the elephant one in particular.

Yes Doug the elephant and bay would be the best of the topiary I think - though there are some beauties -

And welcome to you halfpint - hope to meet you when you get down to Tassy!!!
