Jayco Conquest Kitchen Sink

Hi all. I have a 2011 Conquest and I am having trouble draining the sink in kitchen area. In the cupboard under the sink there is what looks like some sort of filter or trap, I cant get the hoses of it to pull it out as yet as I dont want to snap anything while on the road. Any one know what this gadget is? The sink will drain overnight but dam slow. I suspect there is a blockage in this gismo what ever it is.

Hi..

Can't help with the specific question.  Maybe posting a picture might help.

When I get a blockage in my Jayco van's waste pipes, I put a cloth over the plug hole & attach a hose to the sullage outlet & blow back the obstruction.  Works every time but make sure that you put a light cover over every plug hole or you'll have a hell of a mess.

Unusual offenders include a plastic spoon & onion skins.

edit  ..  Maybe a call to a Jayco dealer would help.

Hello Scotty,

A friend had this problem, he solved it by putting Drano down the plughole and left it over night. In his case it was Bingo!!! in the morning. Just a thought,

Thanks for all the sugestions guys! Rang Jayco Mt Gambier this morning and they sent out a mechanic to have a look at it and fix it. Was very pleased with service and the cost. The gismo I was asking about is a oneway valve come filter, beats me why its there but it is. That was partly blocked but the culprit was in the hose from the sink to the valve, turned out to be the pop cap of a detergent bottle lodged in the hose! Must have been there from first owner as my detergent bottle still has its cap :)  wasnt my fault for a change.

It is probably used as an alternative to the normal "S" bend that is designed to stop bad smells & some nasties from coming up the sullage pipe.

My back flush approach wouldn't work with this thing in the pipe.

I have installed an anti back flow valve in my fresh water input line.  Stops the water pump emptying out my water tanks if I forget to turn the pump off.
