Hitting the road again in 2013.

Hi all

Well as of April next year I will be back on the road on a part time basis and then in 2014, full time again :)

My fiance and I are buying a new 28' Jayco Optimum, that gets built in Feb/march and delievered around april. Im actually going to the factory when its being built to see how its made.

We are both really excited about it as we get to pick the interior, colors, extras etc. Then looking fwd to hitting the roads of this great country and of course meeting up with some old friends and meeting new ones.

Next year we will be doing a few trips of up to a month then 2014, fulltime on the road.

Looking fwd to seeing you all very soon.

Brett

Well done Brett it sounds like an excellent vehicle to travel in, just to your liking.

Hope we meet up again when you get off, will be heading up north in a coaster by April.

John

Thanks John

it is lovely, well it looks it anyway...I haven't actually seen one in the flesh yet, but next week the dealer is getting one in so will check it out :)

My fiance (Deb) wanted something bigger than my last one and with more space and a few more luxuries so it will fit the bill nicely.

Look fwd to seeing you again when we hit the road if not before.

Brett

Hi Brett,

Just out of sheer nosiness I visted the Jayco site and looked at the 28'Optimum.

Very nice and very well designed. What vehicle will yours be based on,looks like there are a few alternatives.

Anyway I am sure it will be a great home for you and your fiance when you get on the road full time.

Happy travelling

Regards

Trevor

Both the getting out in the playground and your choice of rig sound great Brett, as did your radio program. I tuned in today through the website as I couldn't pick it up on my radio and thought it was great, I wouldn't complain if it was a better longer either.

Sorry to digress a little there.

Thanks heaps Doug, I really enjoy my radio gig, I will tell management about your suggestion, although 2 hours is hard to fill some weeks :)

Trevor, it will based on the Iveco, they are adding a Cummins generator as standard from 2013 as well a few other things, which is good news.

Now that's a big plus having the Cummins Generator built in and the Iveco platform is a well proven vehicle.Sounds better and better.

Enjoy!

Is agree Trevor, it's about time they did it, although it will Only be standard on the 28'. I am also getting an external shower put on and having the electric awning removed and a manual one replace it. The electric one appears very fragile when they showed me on the 26' version.

There's also a few more things like 2 house batteries and upgraded solar and they are going to throw in another tv for the fitting in the bedroom. Cause u can't have to many tv's...hahahaha. Although the fitting for the 3rd tv outside might have to go unused :)

There's a slide out BBQ and the floor has been raised to allow for more storage underneath, which has been a problem on the jayco's.

So when I compared it to the Winnebago (Australian) ones and a couple of other brands, I was getting a lot more bang for my buck.

Cheers

Brett

I started on the solo section - I still have lots of friends on there - and I like to keep in touch with what they are up to - and single or couple, we all face the same challenges on the road.

I post on whichever sub forum has a topic that interest me - there are no "strict" regulations or guidelines - the whole site is a "friendly" place - well it is to me anyway.

There are also a lot of solos who post on the "general" forum, or wherever else they feel it is of interest to them - should they not do that???

So that means as a Solo I am not allowed to post on any of the other sections. How ridiculous, I will post where I want.
Any section has great info for any of us. Solos who only go into the Solos section are missing out on a lot of very good information and as a Solo I have learnt much from reading and posting in all the sections.

then why bother having a solo section at all.

The  blurb for solos aims at those travelling alone

Just have a general forum.. . .

A lot of advice and help can come from husbands of a couple. Solos section is for advice for solos but not always FROM solos.
There should be no segregation of people because they are one or the other.

Very true shogun, I was thinking of the help I got when Myrtle packed it in. Ken Thomas being one who came to my door offering help.

Sorry I missed your radio show yesterday, I was out with my son getting a new tap for a water tank. When I got back it was all finished.

I've said exactly that, many times on this forum Marj.   And the "Solos'" Dawa appears to be referring to, all started out as genuine Solos' here.  Why should they stop posting now ?  Bit ridiculous in my book.

Cheers,

Sheba.
