Tahune Forest Reserve

Was raining at Gordon this morning so we chilled out reading and checking the internet. It cleared up at lunch time and we set off to Tahune Forest Reserve Camps6 #125 again there was no mention of a cost but at the reception window there was a sign requesting $20 per night per vehicle. I had a talk with one of the supervisors and did a deal striking the camping cost if we took the Air walk and the Eagle hang glider at the seniors discount rate of $35 inclusive.

The hang gliding was a different experience and I will try to put a copy of the video on the blog.(Must be too big or the wrong format, couldn't upload it) Tomorrow we will do the Airwalk and the other walks. Before doing the hang gliding I had thought that the highlight of the day was the drive here from Gordon firstly along the Channel Highway to Huonville by the Huon River and then on the other side of the river to Geeveston. That was almost eclipsed on the forest drive from Geeveston to the Tahune Forest Reserve. We have no internet here so I will discuss the Airwalk later when on line and post the blog somewhere between here and Hobart.

Sunday morning and had some amazing views walking the Air Walk and the Swing Bridges, don't go on swing bridges with Billeee. Am now stopping for lunch at Huonville and catching up with my posting. Just looked back to the Tree Top Walk near Denmark WA you may want to compare some pics.   John

Yep - the bakery - is it "ye olde pie shop" - sells eccles cakes for one thing - makes great coffee, and the apple turnover was beautiful - no sugar added, so tasted the apple!

As for the Tahune - really lovely place - we camped overnight in the "overflow" carpark, as Yeoeleven said - very quiet - not disturbed at all by any Tasmanian Tigers hahahaa!!!
The Eagle Hang Glide ride was fantastic - I actually got two rides, I laughed the whole way - best fun. The walk this morning over the swin bridges and the airwalk were just beautiful - a great part of Tasmania!
