I stayed at Robe earlier this year. Free camp at an Apex Park, in main street as I recall north of the town. Tables & Chairs, toilets. Dump Point not far away..

If in S A try Moorook, on the banks of the River Murray it is $8.00 per night for non powered site of your choice lots of shade trees (large area to the L & R of central boat ramp) $12.00 for power (only 4 powered sites. mostly used)  Great river views, quiet location with limited traffic at night on adjoining highway to Loxton, good phone coverage, clean public toilets with soap, hand towels and hand dryers (no shower) and dump point on western side of toilets, 2 x free BBQ's cleaned daily by caretaker, kids playground, boat ramp, general store across the road (bit expensive) Sweet filtered water (tap next to green shed adjacent to playground) Close to Barmera (if in Barmera try the local bakery in the main street, real meat and real ingredients, best tasting in Australia) and Banrock Station for a fine wine at great (free) VIP members prices without being bombarded by spam e-mail (eg $6.10 per bottle for VIP Membership)  HIGHLY RECOMENDED

Wrights Bay is fantastic, we stayed there for a week. Would be pretty bleak in winter though!
