Derby between St Helens & Scottsdale

Only 60kms between St Helens and Derby but across the ranges, had been told about the Pub in the Paddock and the Cheese Factory but drove straight past still worrying about the water leak and if it had been fixed. The ranges would sort out any questions and the van didnt run overly hot and after it had cooled down I checked the water level. Had lost about half a litre and I hope that it was because I didnt let it idle first before setting off to check if there was still air in the system.

Good little stopover at Derby Park Camps6 #12. The water is not good for drinking unless boiled for 3 minutes but there are good toilets, rubbish removal and camp kitchen. There were some enthusiasts on the river using inflated tyres but it looked cold to me.

Talked to a family travelling in 2 coasters and would you believe it they tried to sell me one. That opened the door for me to tell them of the one waiting for me in Melbourne when I get back. Couldnt believe that I had bought it sight unseen.    JohnDerby+001.JPG

Hope you get the van water leak fixed soon John, some of those earlier camp sites you were at with the grey sand and bush reminded me of Cosy Corner in WA.

Stay Safe

Vic

Did you really buy that Coaster in Melbourne without seeing or checking it out first John ?  I can't believe you did that.

Stay safe,

Sheba.

I do vaguely remember that now John.  It threw me though, when you said you'd bought it "sight unseen."

Stay safe,

Sheba.

John,

I believe there is some new regulation regarding bifold doors on converted buses (not sure what size) having to be converted to a single outward folding door, I don't know the ins and outs of it, have sent you a pm confuse

Cheers,

 Gday...

Might be a good bit of info to share through the Forum for all 'converted bus' owners, Vic - make it a topic of its own.

Dunno why pertinent info to travellers would get knuckles rapped

Cheers - John

It was on another forum John, but no links to the actual legislation, generally speaking not good etiquette to post links to other forums, so prefer not too.  Anyone is free to google for the link or info on the new legislation, I will try to find it too.

Edit:  This extract is what it is about apparently;

ADR brought in by the Commonwealth Govt and the bit re the doors is as follows
ADR44
44.8. MOTORHOMES AND CARAVANS
44.8.1. Doors
Every motor vehicle (motorhome) or trailer (Caravan) equipped with fuel
burning (cooking) facilities or living or sleeping accommodation shall have
only outward-opening or sliding doors. At least one such door shall be located
on the left-hand side or at the rear.

Apparently there's been a change in Regulations recently John.   This is a Post from the page.  Let me know if you'd prefer the link to the whole page.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Re: bifold door on bus

Hi Bill, you are quite correct, I am going through this at the moment as I bought a 96 Coaster in September not knowing that when I fit it out an outward door will have to be fitted, I thought at first it was some empire building public servant in Hobart who was making this up, but it is an ADR brought in by the Commonwealth Govt and the bit re the doors is as follows
ADR44

Had I known I may have not brought the bus, but am now in the process of building a frame to fit a Camec Motorhome door.
Another annoying regulation or at least the way the local engineer who has to inspect and approve it all read it, is that it must have ADR approved glass in the door and not polycarb type. Some argument going on at the moment so am awaiting outcome, as I cannot get a door the size that will fit the opening that comes with ADR approved glass. It may yet finish with an aluminum panel in lieu of glass..
