Wow those hills in Launceston!!!!! never seen a sign saying that there was a 22 degree hill ahead before driving through Launceston and being guided by the GPS. First gear and struggling round a left hand corner whilst watching for oncoming traffic was not much fun especially when the fuse blew and the charging light came on.
Went to Evandale (Falls Park) Camps6 #60 but it was rather ordinary, plenty of room for the biggest rigs but no facilities other than water & internet. A one night stopover. It is an historic town with quaint houses and shops along the main street noted for it's penny farthing bike races in February.
Moved on to Bracknell (Riverside Park) Camps6 #202 just a short drive from Evandale and located just 700mtrs from the general store on the Esplanade. There is water available, internet and a good toilet block with clean flushing toilets. The river is right next to the camp ground and features a deep swimming hole complete with steps into it. A bonus for those like me who do not like walking over pebbles and rocks but alas the weather here in Tassie in summer is not hot enough to tempt me to swim in the cold river.
Billeee & Jules are heading south from here whilst I will be going north but I will be here for a couple of days catching up with washing in a quiet location with a good supply of water, they have not arrived here yet but I would imagine that they will stay here for a few days also. It is amazing that ever since buying the Telstra prepaid and leaving Scottsdale I have been able to use Optus. John
You'r not far from Liffy falls, if your looking for a great spot, toilet and plenty of water and a beautiful set of falls for you to photograph, you could spend a couple of days there easy but no internet, nice to get away from it sometimes.
Love the Travelogue and pics. My convict ancestors in the mid to late 1800's, spent time in Evandale. It was originally calle Morven.
Originally founded as Collins Hill by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1811, it was also known as Morven before being named Evansdale (1829) and finally Evandale in 1836 after the surveyor and painter George William Evans, who spent much of his later life in Van Diemen's Land. Many continued to call it Morven beyond mid-century, including in official contexts. Evandale Post Office opened on 1 June 1835

No toilets John, burnt down and not yet replaced.

Thanks for the update, was a favourite place for me, I've seen a few fires there that could easily have gotten out of control, by locals not grey nomands, the last time I was there they left a hell of mess behind and the travelling nomads get the blame.
