There is a listing in Camps6 #262 as a rest area but it used to be a really good overnight camp site. I have been told that the owner of Low Head caravan park has lobbied the council regarding the closure of this and several other free camps in the area, so Low Head is good park to avoid.
The Batman Bridge joins the East and West Tamar Highways over the Tamar River. I called in at lunch time to check out the site and walked past the end of the road and under the bridge then down to the river. I was amazed to see huge quantities of rock oysters there just on the rocks together with thousands of opened shells. I went back to the van and brought the hammer, fishing knife and plastic bag back to the river and in no time I had a bag full of oysters. Some opened on the rock and were promptly eaten but the rest became dislodged with a couple of blows. John
