Well just for a change this isn't a question just a comment.
I had a thought this morning, I wonder if I could hook up a Anderson Plug to the wire on the above mentioned pump, use my 6B&S extention Cable plugged into the Anderson Plug on the back of the Prado.
So I soldered the wires into a Anderson Plug, hooked it all up and it worked like a charm. Now I don't have to worry about alligator clamps or the cig lighter plug that did't work anyway due to voltage drop.
I'm a happy camper.

I implied a similar thought in Doug's thread in the General forum.
Another use for the Anderson plug circuit is to power a boat trailer winch. Anyone doing this however is advised to spray a little silcone spray (WD40 Inox etc) into the plugs as the little retaing clips can rust even though the plugs are not being dunked into the salt water.
Much easier than lifting the bonnet to hook clips to the battery & possibly shorting something out if you're not careful. I fitted a 12v cigar socket to the outside of my old van. After a bit of time I had to wriggle the plug around to get contact. I'll be fitting an anderson plug to the side chassis rail on my new one. I'll make an adaptor from anderson to cigar for all those toys that come with cigar plug. At a recent camping show somebody was selling short adaptors that went from anderson to any plug you coud think of.
Once we changed our compressor to an Anderson Plug connector it had the added benefit preventing the kids borrowing it every other weekend. we also carry an anderson plud to cigar lighter plug adaptor. cheers
What a great idea, a good day is when you learn something or come up with a great idea, well, I'll just steal yours, save my brain for something else, thanks for that!!
If i do this extension , say 5 metres with a heavier wire(which i have in stock) will that be a small benefit on voltage drop. That is remove alligators and solder and heatshrink wire extension , then fit anderson to end of new wire. This will save having to unhook to check van tyres, cheers and thanks Craig
I would be more inclined to cut back the existing cable on the compressor. The further you run the heavy wire the better. Going that way purchase two pairs of Anderson plugs. Use one pair on your extension lead and the other to connect the original lead onto the compressor. That way you can still use the compressor where there is no handy Anderson plug outlet.

Thanks Peter, I need most of the original to get to van spare, with proposed extension, but will cut back if possible. I can also make the short alligator adaptor as well. cheers Craig
