The solo people on this forum have meet up's at different places. Someone on here will let you know about it, i am sure.It makes me a little sad that living into days world, we still have this mentality of sedregation between who drives what or who own's what ....We all love the big land we call 0z , so join togeter and just be happy doing it.
What we own. It's such a pity that a group want you to have a MH before you can join them.
I would love to have a 40' Motorhome with four slide outs and every bell and whistle, but there again it would cost more to run, insure and restrict where you can park up.
No we all have to have what we can afford or can actually use or suits our lifestyle.Driver's licences come into it as well and what we can actually drive.
Does it really matter what someone else has or hasn't got,we are all here to enjoy the country and meet up others enjoying their own slice of paradise.
Most of us would like to have the champagne life but have to do with the beer or wine lifestyle,Lotto winning aside.
There's none of that rubbish of 'my van/motorhome's bigger than yours' rubbish on here. As Yuglamron said, it's what we can afford and/or what suits each one of us.
If you check out Get Togethers you'll see there's an Autumn Meet coming up in Qld, and all are welcome, singles, couples whatever!
There is a solo meet here in Biggenden at the showgrounds April 15th. CMCA. I too will not join a club who discriminate against some who do not have a motorhome or what ever else they deem right. Surely its time they changed their tactics and perhaps called them solo travellers despite what they live in.
G'day my van, and welcome. You won't find any discrimination here. All kinds of rigs and all kinds of people with one thing in common... seeing Oz. Check the forums often and you'll soon discover where people are camped and/or headed. It won't take long before you feel at home here.
I spend a lot of time in the company of GNs from this forum, my recommendation is to post your movement plans in advance so that members will know where they can meetup with you. Check out other posts and if you can meetup with a poster send a PM with your suggestion.
I will always make the effort to join up with anyone who PMs me and everyone knows my plans because I take the time to post them. It is amazing but as a solo traveller have rarely been on my own since last October. Just ask Billeeee
Welcome to the Forum Paul. Size or type of vehicle doesn't come in to it in our forum, all we care about is friendliness and a great attitude. My van is only 12ft long but it suits me, and I receive lots of positive comments, as many people like a compact van. Cheers Helen

I think you will find that MOST people don't care what you have or what you have done during your life etc.
The main thing is you are friendly, you are prepared to have a chat when you pass by and you make your self available for a chat when they walk past your rig.
The old saying , if you are interested in people and prepared to mix, you sit outside your rig but if you want to be left alone then stay inside.
Those that stay inside find their travels boring whilst the ones that seek the company of others and project a friendly and happy personality will always get involved and enjoy their travels.
The option is yours and yours alone.
Don't worry what others think as often their oppositions stems from them being jealous that you are happy with what you have and they are still striving for that happiness.
Regards Brian

Absolutely agree with you Brian. I have been camped with others who never come out of their van. I wonder what they do in there all day. It does send a message "Do Not Disturb" so you leave them alone.
i found a few stayed very weiry but opened up at gunning on my last trip .had my birthday there ,meet some terrific people especialy a 70 yr old single she was a lovely lady
I have noticed the same thing, that some people never venture out side their van/ motorhome/ I recon if that is travelling this big country i would not of left home. But then it takes all kinds to make up this crazy world we live in.We find the less we are cooped up inside all the better, and if it happens to rain well so be it,still got the awning to sit under and watch the view or the world go past.
its a shame,,most motor home or caravaners talk about waving to each other on the road and are disapointed if there is no response and yet they discrimunate in what you drive,,a couple of young ladies in a small camber stopped at the wonderfull free camp at gunning on my last trip to be told by a caravan holder to bush off and camp somewere else it crowded him the girls told them to get st;;;d. wasnt very nice,,hope not to c that type of thing again ..garn
I'm no snob, but I find it difficult to just bowl up and speak to strangers. Those of you who have met me wouldn't think that I'm shy, because I'm a chatterbox once I get to know people. But if they come and speak to me first, I seem to be okay. Weird but true.
And I agree, people in free camps are more friendly than CP's.

Gunning visitors need to be careful or they will find it closed down. It is a free space for all who wish to stay there. Last time we stayed there, there were motorhomes, caravans, campervans, 4x4 and tents - and all settled down well for the night. A popular place but CPs up the road are complaining about losing business ....same old story.
Free camps are a great spot to meet other travellers - just go for a walk around and say g'day - never know who you might meet - we have met up here at Theodore with a lady we met in Tasmania earlier this year.

Have to agree with you Jules.............have had many happy hours in free camps and met lots of people, not so in C/Ps, people tend to stay inside most of the time, although when we were in park in Mackay it was different, but a lot of us were in the same boat doing seasonal work so I suppose that kept us all in the same loop.
