Can some one please explain

I was reading a press release this morning and i quote here what it said .Sunshine Coast RV warns that some Insurance companies may not meet water damage claims if van is 5 years or over if not resealed. Can some one in the know try to explain to me what does that suppose to mean.Is it another ploy by insurance companies to get out of paying these poor people who have just gone through so much misfortune in the last few months.

Sounds to me it means once your van reaches 5 years you need to have the whole thing resealed for your insurance top be valid for water damage claims.
Yep, a lot of people in these flood may not be covered. Not fair is it?

Can't blame the insurers. In vans the same leakage and structural problems exist as when I bought my first new van in the Seventies. A brand new van from a big manufacturer that had to be parked with a slight slope to stop the drip in the cupboards.

It would be better if design and selection of materials could overcome the problem in the first place. But for the interim could they all use a quality sealant like Sikaflex marine applied according to the instructions to give us some chance?

There is over-use of gunk in lieu of better building. Happens in houses too. Sees out the warranty period. Then it is your 'maintenance' problem.
