Well here I am all set up and life is feeling pretty darn good now I have made it to my first destination.clap.gif

I picked up the motorhome from Berwick around lunchtime and after being shown all the ins and outs of the van and how to bring the awning down, we did that a couple of times and then decided that I really needed a step ladder because I could not reach the locking device all was in readiness to hit the road. I have to admit that I was pretty pleased with my self, as it is a manual drive and I have not driven a manual car since I cannot remember. I thought I would be kangaroo hopping out of the gate but no I managed it very well. All smooth driving.

I was still in two  minds as to where to head first as I was going through the MH, but once I had all my stuff in the van part, I decided to head to Korumburra first up. I really did not want to tackle the city traffic on a Friday afternoon. It was just as well I did this as there were a couple slips of the gears as I was driving but all good. The hardest part I am finding is trying to see who is sitting behind me, I have adjusted the mirrors a couple of times and then realised if they are really close there is no way one can see them. A good lesson for myself when I am driving normally, although I tend to give a good distance between myself and the car in front anyways.

I have pulled into the Korumburra CP, $30pn, powered site and use of facilities. It is a beautiful park with lots of big trees around and the silence is bliss. I will go for a walk a little later and see what is around, there appears to be a walk near a creek just over the way. It is a fair distance from the town centre, and down in a valley so I think walking into town would a good exercise plan if one was to feel inclined. Yes, I know I should be doing that, I will see what tomorrow brings. That decision along with the decision of either staying here or moving on will be the next big one. Not too sure at all just yet. confuse

 

Well if this is the life of a GN then I am in. I know it is only a few hours in and there is still a lot to learn and get use to but geez, at this point I would not be dead for quids. Interesting BBQ area here also. Adds to the charm of the place. So quiet and the sun is shining, cannot ask for anything more.

 

I was going to upload an image of my motorhome all set up even with the awning out, but for some reason my computer and the pictures are not playing nicely and I do not have the re-sizer programme on my laptop.......So you will have to take my word for it.

I sm so proud of you sharon. You can do it, you can do it. A walk sounds wonderful, so get in training as that is what we will be doing when we come to Mt Gambier. Only if you want too
It is such a great life, many laughs. The biggest stress you will have is wil the glad wrap come off the roll.

Had a lovely day in Ballarat, will go back as Rod want s to go to Sovereign Hill. The gardens were beautiful.

Cant wait to get back in the van and I think 6 weeks will be long enough in one place. No more house sitting as I am over huge houses and having to clean clean clean.

Any how we are having a great look around Bendigo and outlying areas.

Life is great. You may get a visit form those furries tonight

Just be careful of wombats in that area Sharon. Oh, and giant earth worms, oh, and earth quakes. Oh, and, nah, just forget all that and have a ball mate. I will see how things are in the morning and ring if I intend to visit.

Sounds like the right attitude Sharon - have a ball - and it will be nice if Dougwe comes to visit - nothing better than meeting GN's. We have a concertina ladder, makes it really easy for vertically challenged people, and it folds up quite small.

Golly Molly - Sue - glad to hear you are enjoying yourselves - Sovereign Hill is great - and the sound and light show is worth going to!

Sharon, I'd suggest having a rear vision camera fitted to your rig. Great for reversing but really puts the mind at ease when you can see what is behind you. We have cameras fitted to both the ute and the van with the ability to select whichever is required because both are virtually impossible to see behind.

 Sharon, if you are running Windows, you will find a program Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Open the photo file with that program and on the top Menu click on EDIT PICTURES.  On the right side of your screen will be the facility to resize.

Doug, that Wombat certainly gets around, I have not come across him as yet, however when I go for a walk a little later you never know.

Sue, you are a slave driver, first poor Doug having to sew, and now me walking, goolllyyyyy misss molllllyyyy, ok I will be out there enjoying the day. I have decided that I am going to stay here another day, I am so comfortable and it feels so good just to be free even if it is for a short time at present.

Peter, I will try to work out how to do my pics as BG has suggested and if that does not work an email might just be the go.

I slept like a top last night, all cosy and relaxed. Arrrr the serenity.

I think I will have to stop reading these kind of posts! After a few months on the road but now stuck back in Adelaide for my sholder to be reconditioned it makes me so jelous and restless reading of others out in the playground having a ball. I will be back out there ASAP

Good on you Sharon. Have a ball!  After bowling a few bins over, scarring a few trees and scraping the odd fence, I had a reversing camera fitted.  It makes a huge difference to reversing with confidence, being able to see exactly what is behind you.  I also use it while travelling to see who or what is right on my tail.  Vehicles directly behind the MH can't be seen with the side mirrors.  I have done a few thousand k's in my motorhome now but I am still learning.  Like minded travellers have a wealth of information both on the road and here on the Forum.  Continue to enjoy your GN life style and travel safe.
