Lake Benanee #874 NSW

Moved from Nyah to Lake Benanee - will probably stay one night - all dirt camping areas but great lake views. A few trees, clean loo, concrete tables/chairs, info board. Quite a few have vans here now. If you had 4x4 van could probably go down to the next level beside the lake - looks a bit sandy for me.

Pulled in there just after dark, on our way home from Alice 2 years ago. The top section was pretty full so I drove down that bottom section in 2 wheel drive, tyres at 40psi and towing a fully laden camper trailer, not realising that it was all sand (who would have expected sand out there). I ended up bogged nearly to the axles in the soft sand and had to deflate my tyres and select 4WD low range to get the lot back out. Much to the amusement of the group up the top section.

They need a sign re the bottom section I think. Seriously sandy but such pretty spots down there with tables etc. A camper van flew down there and got bogged - they managed to push it out.Up towards the road is firm though. Very windy last night.

At least you could have your bath here! Just not a big area. I actually liked Nyah more - grass, trees, drinking water and masses of room.
