Who wants my Job

Hi all I am leaving here at Kilmore early next week and we need someone to volunteer to take over.

I am at the base camp for Blazeaid at Kilmore and it is where all the tools etc are stored, even though there is little left.

You also help Kevin Butler around the farm where possible as well as liaison with all the camps.

We are desperate for someone to relieve me as Kevin has just had a major health scare and needs some rest. He is in hospital at the moment.

He runs a sheep farm with merino and Suffolk sheep and they need attention. He has some in the yards at the moment and I don't know what to do as I am not a farmer.

So preferably we would like an ex sheep farmer who could help Kevin till he gets home and on his feet. This guy has worked his butt off running his farm, a small carrying business as well as Blazeaid and now desperately needs a hand himself.

I am sitting in a paddock so you need to be self contained and be able to work more or less unsupervised and just help to look after the sheep and a few daily tasks around the farm such as bore and pump maintenance as well as checking on the sheep and fences etc.

You are only a few kilometers from Kilmore township and less than 45 minutes from Melbourne.

If you know someone who may be interested in giving a hand please contact me or go onto the blazeaid.com site and leave an email at the gmail acoount.

Regards
Brian

Hi, are the sheep yarded able to access water and feed? I would go to the nearest farming neighbour and tell them what has happened, I am sure they will help you with the stock.
Sorry I can't come up and help as I am fostering too many dogs at the moment. good luck!

Sorry, I'm not in a position to help but I really hope that Kevin is OK. He has done (and continues to do) such an amazing job with Blaze Aid. I've recently done a couple of weeks at the Bookham site and will certainly be calling in on at least one of the Qld sites in the near future.

Have you put this request on the Blaze Aid FB page?

I am not on Facebook but will get someone to do it. Thanks for the suggestion and thank you for helping us as you travel around our great country.

As you are aware many of the volunteers are nomads so we need as many as possible to hear the word and get to feel the satisfaction of helping fellow Australians in their time of need,

Brian

Kevin is still in hospital and his family have been there all day so I have no new news.

They are running scans and tests etc and have found a few problems but not sure what they actually are and how severe, but he is a sick boy at the moment.

I will check up again on the FB thingo as I don't like going on there.

Regards
Brian

Kevin is home again for a while.

He has an infection around the area where they need to operate and until that is resolved they will not enter.

He appears to be in good spirits and as always is looking on the bright side.

They are planning to upgrade the shearing shed and revert to paying someone to do the shearing and crutching etc as it will now be too much for Kevin to do on his own.

Up till now he did all the shearing and crutching etc and also did the grading and skirting etc on his own and at times with his daughters when they come back to the farm for the day etc.

He is a very proud and determined person and is addiment he will get through OK and will continue as before but we are trying to get him to realise, even before this event , that he can not continue to push himself all the time and get out the other side to enjoy an old age.

I have to leave here in few days so will see what happens but I will return for a while once I have my prior commitments finished till they can get someone to come along and replace me.

Will keep you posted while I can.

Regards
Brian

We have a person leaving one of our work sites to come here to hold the base while I am away for two weeks and then we will see what happens when I return.

I have commitments in SA that I wish to fulfill so we will see what happens.

Anyone travelling to QLD could they consider giving a little time at a base. I think you will find it will be an experience you will not forget.

Brian
