Water stains

Hi everyone, I am a first time user so here goes. Does anyone know of a way to remove water marks/stains on van ceilings & walls? I have heard that the marks are actually stains from the timber. Can you help????? Also are there many 5th wheeler owners out there? I would love some feedback on their thoughts of owning & driving one and what brands etc. and any problems associated with them.s

Hi,  Welcome to the friendly forum.

I have had a range of water stains on the walls of my 1999 Jayco.  Some from leaving windows open during rain and others from trying to clean the walls with household detergents (a no no).

It seems that in my case the wall sheeting is ply wood with a colour applied & with a plastic film overlay.  Household cleansers in my case cause the plastic film to discolour & in some cases bubble or become opaque.

I have been told that it is a good idea to apply some clear sprayon coating to the new surface.  Might be a good idea to try this first in an inconspicuous spot.

For water stains, I have had the local paint shop colour match some ordinary semigloss interior water based wall paint.  I apply that with a rag or bit of sponge sparingly over the effected area, gradually reducing the cover as I move away from the stain.  With a bit of artistic application, it does the job & doesn't come off or bubble.

For ceilings the material is different, seems to be just painted sheeting. Mine can be cleaned with gentle cleaners & painted with normal off white ceiling paint.

Hope this helps.

Enjoy your travels.
