A challenge to solos

Hi Monica,
I am not a newbie, but I love the challenge you have set up for those that are still feeling a little shy about posting. I love the solo question, how hard would it to be to pick one person. A couple spring to mind, I might have to have a bigger MH. I would love to travel with Sir Richard Branson, to listen to his dreams, travels and what continues to inspire him, my late husband had met him a few times and always spoke so highly of him and what a lovely down to earth man he is, then I would have to take along Neil Diamond for entertainment value, he could just keep singing andI would be in heaven, then a man I met many years ago who was of Indian descent, I could listen to him speak of the stories, myths and beliefs of the Iroquoi and Mohawk and spend time in deep meditation with him. So there would be a electic collective but we would have fun. The 24 hours would certainly go by very quickly.

Hope I don't sound too greedy, but what a delicious thought.

Thank you for the challenge. I would love to have my mum here to travel with me. I know this would be one thing she would have loved to do. I guess my trip will be for her too. She is with me always anyway I guess so "belt up mum, we're off at the end of the month".

I'd take my sister.
She "isn't a camping person" and won't even try for a single night, but I'm sure she'd like it - the peace and quiet!
She says she's a 5 star person. Its a five star van! .... well, to me it is.
She says she won't "pee in a bucket" - "you don't have to. Use the portapot." but I never win.
Basically she's a stay-at-home, and likes nothing better than for everyone to leave her to herself for a day or so.
I'd love to show her the joys of travel and the peace and tranquility you can find under a gum tree, or beside a lake or river, the vivid sunsets (never 2 the same), the night sky full of the brightest stars, the evening bush noises.

..............and we'd gossip all day!

I'm, with Evie, my Dad died 18 years ago and I would give anything to have him travel with us for 24 hours, remember the last time I saw him, didn't realise it would be THE last time..............I think he would love what we are doing, know that can't happen so my 2nd pick would be Jon Bon Jovi..............well you said anyone.

I would pick Audrey Hepburn for one. The more mature she became the more beautiful she was. Such charisma and presence.

Then again imagine being with and watching Michelangelo creating the statue of David or even better if that possible his Pieta.

I'd take Aung San Suu Kyi - I reckon it would take a good 24 hours for me to figure out what motivates her. For entertainment perhaps Neil Diamond - he could provide the sing-along stuff.

We are going away next week, close enough to home for her to visit during the day, but its not the same, is it !

Maybe the glass is half full, and I should look on the positive side !

I Would take me dad who passed away 2 years ago .He love the bush, the outback anywhere there was trees water or animals ... And his knowledge of the bush and camping were so vast .....If fact if you vist The Pilliga Forest Divcorey Centre at baradine he is one of the voices you hear talking about the Pillaga ...

I too would have loved to take my Mum. After Dad retired, she wanted to hit the road but Dad wasn't interested.

Otherwise my best friend who is always good value. Unfortunately, she has a husband who'd want to come too! But he's easy to get along with. wink

I'm getting ready to head west. At present I am looking forward to the quiet. Who would I take on the next one? Pull the 6yo grandson out of school Mum is an option but her dementia, along with pets, prevents that.

G'day Love it, says it all. Add to that would be to take the ex, the girlfriend and let em sort it out. I am with you Gary would love to have a younger me, then I would have more time to enjoy.

Thanks for setting us the challenge

I am getting prepared to travel solo in 2014 when I finally retire (well at lest for the first time), selecting a rig and getting lots of good ideas from this blog.

The person I would love to take with me may not exist except in my dreams - a bloke with a quirky sense of humour, who loves spending time in wild places, has infinite patience, and enjoys playing and listening to music along the way.

So instead I think I would love to take the Dalai Lama with me - to keep me focused on enjoying the moment of NOW, to make the most of every travelling experience and every interesting person I meet along the way.

Hmmm,
I think Dawa may be on the right track....I don't have any Indigenous ancestors (ther were not many Indigenous people in Shepherds Bush, London back in the early 50's lol) but I made many Indigenous friends while I lived and worked in Darwin and I would be honored to have one of the Elders travel with me and share the stories and history and bush tucker/medicine lore of the land I travel through......although to get all the info one would have to pick up different Elders in different country....

Been really busy since just after Christmas and haven't posted in ages. Mind you, I don't really have a lot to say.

My planned April trip to Tassie has been postponed until November. My aging dog got crook and it didn't seem fair to dump her on my sister while I gallivanting about the country. I wouldn't have enjoyed myself anyway worrying about my fur kid, so I put it off until later in the year.

Still keen to catch up though. Green's looks like the best opportunity if anybody is going to be there over the next month or so.

I will be at Laanecoorie Caravan Park on the 10th, 11th and 12th of May if anybody is in the area. You'll spot my '74 white Kombi a mile away.
