Help. I purchased a new gps [Tom Tom via 160] only because it had longtitude/lat function. As I go away 3 months [Tassies winter!] I use camp 6 which has brilliant sites for me, but sometimes I had trouble finding them.
They do give a long/lat on each site in the book, so thought how easy would that be, just set it..... except maybe I am just too old and silly these days to work out how to do things! Anyone got the know how to help, I would really appreciate it.
Hit the "Navigate to" button. Then you should see a list of icons, select the blue circle with a vertical and horizontal line. This will allow you to enter lat and long details.....

Only one little problem, I put the grid ref for Kingaroy show ground and finished up out on a back road to Nanango. Not sure who was wrong, camps 5 or the GPS, I am thinking camps book.
A few weeks ago we were driving from Toowoomba to Proston and found when going through Kingaroy, our Tom-Tom sent us back to Dalby via the Bunyas - we turned it off as we couldn't get it to take the road that had a sign pointing to Proston. Not sure of the model but it's about 6 months old. The seem a good GPS in the big smoke but out west they seem to get lost. Had similar problems in Gudagai as well. Be careful updating it online as ours connects then does something, freezes and then says we have no maps so it cannot update. Have to keep reinstalling it to finally get it logged on and updated. There is a Tom-Tom forum that mentions similar problems. Ours was on special when we bought it and it is heaps better than the Aldi one we had that started talking in Chinese....even got a 12 year old kid to try and get back to English but he couldn't so we ditched it. Good Luck.
The below is from the Camps website and may assist.
What are GPS coordinates?
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. Using signals provided from satellites users are able to determine reliable positioning & navigation.
There are 3 common GPS coordinate display formats;
- Latitude and Longitude (-17.598889 145.758611) - Lat / Long -minutes-seconds (17 35 56 145 45 31), - Lat/ Long -minutes-decimal seconds (17 35.933 145 45.517)
The Camps Australia Wide & Caravan Parks Australia Wide books use Lat./ Long minutes-seconds In the book we call this Degrees-minutes-seconds. Generally you will find that most GPS units have the above three settings, so if you want to input our GPS coordinates for a site into your GPS you must have the right setting selected. Entering our coordinates into another setting will result in incorrect directions and you will not access the correct site.
