Hi Spida, was interested in your comments of that couple who came through from WA. That road is called the Great Central Rd and is one that is on my bucket list.
Still not mobile yet, garage was expecting exhaust manifolds from Western Aust yesterday, but found they were late being posted, so now were expected today. May be,MAY BE????? mobile again by weekend.

Have made it this far - dont know why I was a bit apprehensive about this part of the trip
BUT - I have so missed the internet - and the Forum! Have been stopping at roadhouses and doing a quick email check. Quiet driving with no radio, although I did get reception at night sometimes, and my Cd player is a bit erratic - Pilbarra dust in it I think
Have done Uluru/Olgas. Amazing. Wish we could drive around the Olgas though. Good IGA at Yulara, fuel a bit cheaper than Curtin Springs but a free camp there, pay $3 for shower.
Met a couple who had come through from WA - Kalgoorlie to Yulara. Good dirt road other than 40km of rough stuff. Had a normal caravan also! Didnt have to pay the $25 each to see the rocks by coming that way!!!!
Onyer Spida! Lots to see in Alice before you head for the W McDonnell's, so enjoy your stay there. Consider a day trip to Palm Valley south of Hermansburg, you need a 4WD and if you can do it in a day from Alice you could leave the van in the CP and do a day return trip - everyone I spoke to told me it was great but my 2WD wouldn't make it so I didn't get there. Consider a day trip to Rainbow Valley also, I got in w/ a 2WD but I wouldn't pull a caravan in there.
Been to Jesses Gap today - no water but amazing rocks. Alice is an Oasis I have decided - clean, lovely trees..... have heard so many negative things about it
Will do the west ranges tomorrow - but getting a massage first - have a sore back still so not feeling like off roading much.
Absolutely beautiful pics Spida, love that country up there. Jessie's Gap, is a wonderful place, now back in my misspent youth days, I actually fenced all around that Gap and Emily's Gap, then out to Glen Helen George. Had a ball. There is so much to see out there. If you can, go on a tour out to Palm Valley, it is an amazing place, on a tour you get to see all and hear about the highlights and history of the place out there and on the way out and back. Continue to have a great time and posting great pics.

4WD with a ford ranger. The possibilities are endless.
I agree with fireheart , Spida, If you can do not miss ''Palm Valley'' Better not to take your 4wd as the road in is rough [ part of it is the River bed ] we done that trip 2 years ago, and really, really, loved it, also Kings Canyon is ;;a must'' as Ken Thomas also said,
footnote !! we took a small guided tour to Palm Valley, it was only a group of 10-12 people in an ''OKA'' very informative and included a stop-over at Hermansburg for morning tea of fresh scones with jam and cream [ yummo ] The tour cost $99 per head, and was nearly a full day, we considered it good value ??

No Mate !, I Take my dog on most trips, However not on that one, as you say most of it is National Park, and Dogs would be to Re-strictive, Plus we went in the wrong part of the year March ?? [ way to hot ] and 330000 milion, two hundred and sixty seven FLIES ??
But despite the heat, Loved the trip, the whole 4 weeks of it, Seen a lot, done a lot, But missed out on Heaps to, will be going back , at a better time of year for at least 6 weeks in that area, but will still leave my litte mate at home.
You and your little Doggy mate have a good, safe trip. Dazren.. [ PS ] If you do take your doggy mate ??? be VERY CAREFUL of poison baits, they can ANYWHERE, ??

Had to leave her at my daughters once when in hospital, little bugger wouldn,t eat for the whole week,so i have to take her. as you say it makes things
difficult sometimes. will certainly watch out for the baits, she won,t be off the lead.
Other cultures would not let all those flies go to waste, all that fresh protein going to waste, lol Cheers Dave
