Doesn't help this little feller, but apparently theres not going to be as much forest clearing/logging in the Tarkine as was originally planned,. How can anybody even think of cutting down magnificent old growth forest, do we really need that much paper?

Have you been to what is now called the tarkine. The biggest percentage of it is button grass plains, then there is other section that are so called virgin forest that has been selectively logged for well over 100 years and there is a smaller area that has never been logged. It is a buetiful area that has roads so I can acess  it that were put in by loggers and miners. I despise clear felling of forest but am ok with selective use of resourse.

cheers

The Arthur, Pieman conservation area is a multi use forest area that has been managed over many decades, with logging, mining, fishing, cattle grazing and farmiing. you are right Blaze as to the use of the area, it's a shame that once the managers of this "so called tarkine" are no longer there to manage it , it will go to ruin. Pity all minority groups who make all the noise will not be there to help.

The photographer transported it back to where it came from I'd guess.

Because it looks staged.  You would be unlikely to find a Koala out in the open especially in bright sunlight like that.

That unnecessary artifice doesn't change our hopes that the environment is managed.  The biggest threat would the the "Big Australia" policies of government though.  Over-population of a land that is mainly desert and marginal gfarming land.

Apparently the NSW forestry had clear felled some pine trees at Macquarie woods.the pine were between two large section of gums. The story was that Koalas travel large distances between areas, think he/she was crossing between he areas of gums

Thats quite interesting .. I've been going to Macquarie Woods for the last 16 years and never seen or heard of Koalas being around the camping ground area .. I know that recently there has been a large replanting of some areas just over the hill from the campsites. Even more recently, a good friend advised me that they had even taken down the signs that had now faded badly but had still provided some direction for travellers wishing to go to Macquarie Woods.

There is currently no water provided there anymore either .. was informed that the pump that fed it to the head tank on the hill had died .. Pity .. Its all gone downhill ever since the forestry dept lost the government subsidy ..
