My 8 month old Kindle froze last week. Was ready to dash back to Dick Smith with the extended warranty until talking to someone who tells me it happens often. There is supposed to be a reset button - cant find it, but in the meantime mine had run the battery totally flat so in effect 'reset' itself yesterday when I went to try to sort it out - and is all up and running again.
Google 'Kindle freeze' if you have a problem with yours.

Lots of bright sparks here - am still laughing - thank you guys I didnt think of updating - the thing is only 8 months old. I gather from the website that it is a problem although Amazon doesnt think so.
