And yes, I drove through it, twice.

No fluke I'll have you know!

No, I was heading to a family property near Mungallala Qld, and this patch often stays wet some time after rain. It gets the overflow from a dam that some fool put in nearby. wink

As long as it is solid underneath .....and you have to wash the car when you get home.

Testing me Gary?

You aim for as many high spots as you can, dodging the deeper puddles. Accelerate with purpose, not too fast, but definitely not too slow. This was 3 years ago, so I'm guessing that I drove on the far left.

I would never have gotten bogged in this, I would have been more concerned about how rough it was going to be for my very low car and the little camper trailer I had at the time. But you can't really avoid it being rough, because you can't go slow. As for the depth of the puddles, June in western Qld is not when one would want to dip ones toes in puddles.doh If there'd been water right across the road, I would have had to brave it. Note: Pays to carry gumboots, which I now do.wink

As an aside, my grandparents settled on this property in 1910, and this particular trip was for the the hundredth anniversary/family reunion. My grandparents had 11 kids, so you can image how many descendants there are.

Yes, I remember watching others driving through Wenlock River several years ago, before attempting it ourselves.

In this particular case, it's a well used road and I knew a whole bunch of cousins had gone before me, and there were more to come. biggrin Admitedly most were in 4WDs. hmm

When you're faced with something like that, what's the procedure? Drive through slowly? Drive through quickly? Or get out and check to see how deep the mud is?

Instead of getting your toes wet, wait for somebody else to cross and see what happens to them!
In all seriousness, if you are out bush on your own, and the water is of unknown depth, also unknown rocks etc in it, it really is best to walk it...use a long stick to prod the ground in front of you in case of sudden drop in depth.
Peter_n_Margaret posted a video a long time ago, where a small-looking waterhole nearly swallowed the front of their Oka!
