Another long days driving in the rain, around 350kms from Forbes following the Newell Highway to Yamminba Rest Area between Coonabarabran and Narrabri. Camps6 #917.
I am looking for overnight camping and this spot fits the bill perfectly with a tarred parking surface, new drop toilets well maintained and a good covered table and seat set up.
I have traveled 350kms for the past 2 days and if I keep that up I will reach the Gold Coast by Friday afternoon. John
Have you worked out any fuel figures yet? Sounds like the coaster is going well.See you soon,Bill
Going well but slowly, 70 to 80 in an 110 zone is causing me stress all I seem to see in the rear vision mirror are large radiators.
366kms @ 55.3ltrs = 6.61 km to ltr.
307kms @ 45.4ltrs = 6.76 km to ltr.
Around what was expected, filled up at Coonabarabran around 50kms short of Yammimba. Using the GPS log for the kms and filling until it stops, know if the nozzle is longer it will read differently but overall will average out.
With the size of your vehicle, I would say that you are getting very good figures. Staying below 90kph will make a big difference.I get 7 or 8 from the diesel courier with the slide on, but would get better if I didn,t rush so much. Stop and smell the roses, or so my sister says. By the way, she is in Exmouth,WA, and saw and swam with 10 whale sharks, yesterday. They are going to do the Canning stock route in their new landcruiser ute.I will try to get some pics, when they get back. Bill
John - just have to learn to ignore the trucks, get on the radio and tell them you will pull over when you can - most are obliging - don't let them push you.
By now you will be on the Gold Coast - we are at Glebe Weir, near Theodore - a really great spot!! $7 night WITH POWER!!! Toilets, and only bore water, but I think you can get water from the weir for washing!
