Don,t be put of eating catfish. If you can get past the slime and the spikes, they aren't to bad. The yanks grow them in ponds , and have catfish festivals. "Bassa", the imported fish you buy in the supermarkets, is Mekong river catfish, grown,or so I am told in waste water(read sewerage).Skinned and fileted right , Aussie catfish aren't bad. Bill

Freshwater catfish was the only fish we had as kids growing up just north west of Biggenden. The eel tailed catfish is OK to eat, kill em, skin em and fry em.
If the waters muddy they taste like s--t, OK out of clean clear water.

The one billeeeeee caught is a blue catfish or a salmon catfish. The blue version is the same as the channel catfish of the Mississipi in the US,as I have caught and eaten them.Millions of yanks can't be wrong. The eel tailed ones in OZare greta, also, if a little hard to clean.Bill
