If you get tired of that try the gold club at Maffra - really nice spot and about the same price.

It's a good place Jimbo ... say Gday to the managers Bonnie and Jamie for me ... unless they are off in the big Traveller van again.

Not sure they will know me as rockylizard .... so tell em the liddle fat bloke with the long pony tail who keeps turning up like a bad smell

Tell em I'm in Rubyvale at the moment.

Cheers - John

Gday...

When I was out around the Boulia area two years ago there was a bush mouse "plague" (the locals didn't think it was, only we travellers ).

The liddle meeces were getting up under bonnets of vehicles and chewing the insulation on wires. There were three vehicles at the Boulia Van Park that had to be flat towed eastwards for fixing - quotes in the thousands of $$.

Secret was to leave ya vehicle's bonnet up all the time when stationary so they would not get up and under.

Cheers - John

The mouse found its way into the timing belt, got caught under the belt when I tried to start and slipped the timing out which resulted in bent valves, broken rings etc. Had to send some photos to the Insurance Co. to get the claim approved. I'll put a couple of photos below. Just called Iveco in Shepparton, not going to be ready till early next week. I'm afraid my travelling days are over for the moment. Booked on the Spirit to Tassie on June 26. If by chance I don't get the MH by 26, I'll have to leave it with Iveco in Shepparton as I'm going back to my home in the Philippines as soon as I can after returning to Tassie.  The photos show what is left of the mouse and the timing belt showing blood and hair....

Thanks for the good wishes. Now planning pickup at Shepparton Tuesday June 18.  Will probably make Sale after that. Original plan was to head for Bright and Mt. Hotham, but wont have time for that now. If I get it on 18th, only have 8 days left. Was hoping to meet a few GNs this trip, but only made Green Lake and did meet Wombat and Ziggy. Really enjoyed their company for a few days. Next year might head up to my home State, Qld. Like to spend some time around the Sunshine Coast and especially Bribie Island. Happy and safe travelling to all...

Would still like to know if powered sites at Sale Showground.  Guess I could try find out online as my Camp 7, maps, notes etc are in my MH.

I'm in Melbourne staying with friends. After a few days at Green Lake, I had engine problems. Towed into Iveco Dealer at Shepparton to find a mouse, yes a mouse had done over $11,000.00 worth of damage to the engine. Been off the road nearly 2 months as most parts have to come from Italy... I'm not a happy chappie at present.  Now the good news, I might get the MH back Friday or early next week. Second bit of good news, the Service Manager at Iveco told me this is classed as an accident, so the Insurance Company came to the party with the repair bill and $1,000.00 towards accommodation. I've always felt the small amount of money paid annually to be in CMCA was well worth it. Apart from the cheapest insurance premium I could find, their service is 5 star.

Thanks John. The link below shows powered sites at $19.00 but does not mention CMCA discount. $15.00 a nite or $105.00 a week is good value. Must be a large area going by the photograph. Also states 100 unpowered sites and 112 powered. Certainly hope I can get there next week... Ken.

Catching the train to Shepparton today. Iveco Dealer called me last nite to say my MH Is ready to pick up (after 2 months in the workshop) so will head off tomorrow for a quick run to Wangaratta, Bright and Sale. Gotta be on the Spirit to Tassie next Wednesday night so a lot to see in a week out of my 3 months journey...

Enjoy your quick trip BG - are youintending to go from Bright to Sale over the mountains? Mount Hotham, Falls Creek? There could be a bit of snow up that way, check it out before you head out.

Though a person I know - very well - decided to go from the Sale end to Bright a couple of years ago, in a motorhome larger than yours - in a BLIZZARD!!!!! No chains, and dressed in Qld winter gear - thongs, shorts and t shirt!!!!! Some of you will be able to put a name to this picture, I am sure!!!!!

Yeah I'll check out the snow and road conditions when I get to Bright. I don't have chains so if they are required, I'll go to Sale another way. I do have a lot of experience driving in snow and skiing when I was younger !! Wangaratta today.

Even though I'm from Qld. originally I'm not that silly that I'd drive in a blizzard dressed in singlet, shorts and thongs. I would at least wear my baseball cap !!!! biggrin
