Left Snottygobble Loop

I've been happily wandering about the jarrah/karri forests in the Manjimup/Pemberton area - truly remarkable trees!  Enjoyed a climb up the Gloucester Tree to the lookout and the viewed many of the magnificent tall trees.  Shannon NP is a very pretty campsite with hot showers (wood fired hot water heaters) tho it did rain much of the four days I was there.  So I stayed two nights in the Warren WAy CP near Manjimup to dry out a bit - a nice CP, reasonable  and the mangers were very friendly.  Then on to Pemberton, where I stayed at The Arboretum and Drafty's Camp.  I had a look at Snottygobble Loop, where, chatting with a Park employee, he informed me about Goblin Swamp; so my last night in the area was spent camped at Snottygobble Loop campsite, from which I took two excursions to Goblin Swamp as it is so fascinating.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to get good enough signal coverage to transfer photos onto my web album but hopefully will be able to in the Margaret River area (here in Augusta I can only get two bars, which - if it didn't time out - would take forever.

It is cool & sometimes damp in the SW but there are still a lot of campers about, many happy conversations around the fire in the evening!  All going well and regards to all.

I did enjoy my time in that area camping in the Arboretum but the Alexandra Bridge on the way to Margaret River is really a good camp:-

I spent a couple of days there enroute to the Big valley Campsite at Margaret River.

You certainlyb are exploring the regions much more than I did.

A few years ago Keith & I were volunteers looking after the camp site at Big Brook Arboretum. Enjoyed our time there (about 5 weeks).

Stayed at Snottygobble loop in 2011 for a couple of nights, great little spot. Just go to our van in, had to park it at the communal camp area.

Hi Vic,
Drafty's Camp is in the Warren National Park, SW of Pemberton on Old Vasse Highway. It is a one way, steep & windy road in and quite frankly, The Arboretum is a better spot. If you do get down that way, you must see the Goblin Swamp, just south of Snottygobble Loop campsite on Boat Landing Road, at the western end of D'Entrecasteux NP.

Geez, that would have been a bit tight getting your bus in there, or did you have a different rig then?

Loki, where is Drafty's Camp?  Know Big Brook, we stayed there last year, is this one and the same?

Sounds like you are having a great time.

Thanks for the tip Anton, glad you are enjoying yourself. smile

There seems to be a lot more RV people travelling in the southern areas in winter now, maybe it is to escape the throngs up north and the summer crowds down south in summer, so many on the roads now and the various camps...

Happy travels also smile

Or maybe - as a lot of them are Victorians and Tasmanians - they think it is warm.
