some great places - we were at these July/Aug/Sept last year:
Quilpie-Lake Houdraman, Eidsvold- Waruma dam, Barcaldine -Lloyd Jones Weir, Blackwater-Bedford weir, Gayndah-Claude Wharton weir (only a few sites), Near Harvey Bay-Lenthal Dam, Surat -river camp, Oma waterhole(can't remember the name of the town), Theodore
Favourite was Theodore - 500mts to town, hot showers, good water, lovely river all for a donation - also loved Bedford Weir.

Avatar is Lenthal Dam

We stayed at Glebe Weir, near Taroom, recently - powered sites for $7 night, flushing toilets, bore water is available, no drinking water though. Fishing in the weir, and in the holes down the creek. Good spot.
Don't know if there is a publication or web site specifically for dams though.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dams_and_reservoirs_in_Australia#Weirs_and_Barrages_2

This looks helpful. At least they're all listed on this site. I would then just google the individual names to find out more info.

Other than this site, it seems they're separate sites for different zones, such as South East Qld etc.

Here's a website link, altho a comercial site, that lists the dams in Qld with plenty of detail. Saves time considering my hunt & peck typing.

Glebe weir is now dry. Apparently the Qld water mob pumped it out.

Locals didn't seem too impressed.

Gosh - re Glebe Weir - the fishing mob that have a comp there would not be happy about pumping it dry! Thanks Sandsmere.
