Please, please, please do whatever you have to do to avoid this bridge section on the Bruce Highway. They are currently rebuilding the Highway, and traffic conditions are terrifying.
The traffic controllers just can't control such a long stretch of the Bruce south of Mackay, and the traffic backs up to Sarina, and back toward Mackay.
Our oversize convoy must have terrified them and they had no idea what to do. So instead of blocking all traffic for 10 minutes to get us out of the way, they froze, and fortunately our Police escort did what he could.
Just avoid it at all costs for the time being, and listen to the local radio station FM:98.7 for regular updates. The road gang and controllers are using UHF ch 12 and may respond to your question.
