I left Hobart about 15 weeks ago and I am currently in the Shepparton area in Vic. I will probably be here for the next couple of weeks waiting for mail to catch up with me and sorting out end of financial year stuff aka tax
I am heading for the Flinders Ranges and would like to be there for spring as I have been told it is one of the best times of the year to visit.
I am wondering if anyone would like to join me on the trip there from Shepparton or meet up along the way or meet up in the Ranges?
While I enjoy my own company I am getting a bit sick of talking to myself(it gets a bit boring winning every argument lol lol)
I am easy going, enjoy a good laugh, don't smoke, tipple socially, like walking and bike riding and general site seeing. Don't have heaps of money so not into expensive diversions or accommodation.
Normally drive at around 80ks an hour and have a camper trailer set up.
So, if anyone is interested contact me with a post and/or pm.
Hello Wayne, just finished reading your blog on your travelling and adventures.
Keep up the excellent reports.
Hope you meet up with some other fellow travellers heading to the Flinders.
Some really nice places to go have a look see over that way.
A few places that stood out for us is Melrose settled in 1840's in the shadows of the 1000-metre- tall Mount Remarkable,
is the oldest settlement in the ranges. It has a real laid back feel about it.
Another great place to drop into foe a look and some morning tea is Blundstone's café & Blacksmiths shop ,you will see the forge still works.Has the most fantastic wood fired - pizza, also home made bread.
Another couple of beaut little town to visit is Quorn and Hawker.
The Flinders in Spring is beautiful... all purple with Pattersons Curse!!! They call it Salvation Jane there. Lots of places to camp in the NP, we camped at Arunna. Wilpena campground is a bit of a circus nowadays, very busy, you might like Willow Springs better, might even get some work there as another forumite did. Brachina gorge is a must-see...
Wish we could come too... sigh. Here's a photo taken in Brachina.
Maybe while you are in the Shepparton area you might like to pop out to Greens Lake. There are going to be a few of us from tomorrow, Tuesday.
Its not far from where you are and has toilets only. Bring you own water and firewood if you want a fire.
Head towards Elmore and you will find it on the right just before Corop, well signposted.
Hi Tassie Tiger, we are ex Tassy currently touring throughout SA. We are travelling the Eyre Penninsula. We move to the Streaky Bay area tomorrow and SLOWLY moving back to the Adelaide area about early Sept. My wife is going back to Tassie for a week and when she gets back we will be headed for the Flinders Ranges, about 15th or so. Would be able to catch up if it's works out.
Regards
Brian and Cheryl
