We were in Wagga Wagga for 3 nights at the free campgrounds there, it was a little water logged , altho 2 nights we stayed on the higher ground, the morning we left we kinda floated the bus out to the road LOLOLOLOLOL I don't think I've seen so much wet ground ever! it's not real wet over in WA and we don't have so many running rivers either.... so it's been really nice to see them here :)
Yesterday we stopped at a pub/hotel in Grong Grong, well parked out back of it, they allow this if you go into the pub for a drink or something and you can have a shower for a donation, the people are really friendly too. It was hubby's birthday so we had a great meal and stayed nice and warm in the pub....
We're now in Ardlethan NSW atm and I'm watching the hail outside my window.... tis a nice little town with a free short stay campsite right across from IGA where you can plug into power for $2.00 per 12 hours, has toilets and bar-b-q with picnic tables.... I just adore all the old buildings!!!! The ground is muddy, but then again it is winter eh.... its a nice spot.. just thought you may like to know :) I think we shall stay here tomorrow as well, (you can have a 3 day stay) before moving on as our batteries need a top up (clouds)...
I have not been on the net much due to the limited power and usage (we talked to the kids on skype a little bit hehehe) but will let you know where we are again when we're hooked back into power along the way.... hope all who are out on the road are having a blast and those taking a break are planning a new trip!! Am having a ball!!!!
That's interesting about Grong Grong AJ. I knew you could camp there somewhere but couldn't work out where when I came through a few weeks ago. Will look harder next time.
Didn't realise that about Ardlethan either, will go in for a look next time, love old buildings.
Wow, all these places I've never heard of... apart from Wagga which I visited back in 1969. Anyway, sounds like you're having a wonderful as well as interesting time. Keep the reports coming.
Update on Ardlethan - it is still $2 for 12 hours of power - amazing - clean toilets, tap on the outside of the mens loo. BBQ's (free) pcnic tables, and a lovely little town. Not much here - IGA, chemist, newsagency, couple of coffee shops, NAB bank. Bowls club do meals, in Bowling season, Thursdday and Saturday I think.
Three day stay.

There are 2 spots at Grong Grong. One is off the main road opposite the store, the other is behind the Pub. You cross the railway line, turn left and the Pub is right there. It's a free camp, just sign the book inside the Pub, buy a beer or a bight to eat and the Publican is happy. I stayed there in March last year on my way to Qld. I also stopped two days at Ardlethan on the return. Great little town and good value for metered power $2.00 for 12 hours...
