After a whirlwind week, completely out of the blue, I am about to hit the road full time.
MuM very happily moved into aged care of her choice and Ohhh so happy, a different woman. Daughter very happy also. After a day of moving furniture and mother a call from a real estate agent wanting to know if I would rent my home. This is something I had dismissed previously, however once they told me who they had in mind and i met them i said yes. They want to be in here in 5 weeks. Wow, asked the universe and it has delivered.
Friday rang Mildura and said yes to my new home on wheels. I have decided after much research over the past couple of years and tooing and froing, to go with a Wirraway260. Great price, 4 years old but hardly used, all extras, on a mercedes base, have driven it when I was there a few weeks ago. Felt like home and fell in love with it and thought maybe one day. Well one day has finally come.
So in about 4 weeks I will be a full time grey nomad, although I will continue to have the hair blonded. I will not venture far from Mt Gambier to begin with as there are family commitments such as christenings and weddings in the next couple of months but come middle of November, I could end up anywhere.
I am very excited, a little daunted and as I look around my home a little overwhelmed at the amount of "stuff" I have to now dispense of and pack up. All good, made a start yesterday by throwing out some old cook books that I have not used since I was first married 38 years ago, so figured I was not going to miss them now.
So one day I will see some of you out there on the road hopefully and have a ball doing it.

Have a garage sale - put it all on the front lawn - and what is left over take to the local oppy!!!! You will be amazed at what people will buy!!!
Hope to see you out there - we will be in Mildura in the next month or so - currently in Port Pirie.

Great news shekon. Was wondering how you were going with your mums situation. Worked out well.
Hooray on the road at last. After the packing that is. I hate packing, like you that's what I'm trying to do.
Out go my recipe books, wasn't sure what to do with them, had them so long but will never use them.Off to the op shop.
Its a big decision to rent out your home to strangers, particularly when its more palace like than your average home. Reading from your past posts it looks like it was a good decision you have made.
Good luck with your plans I am looking forward to following your posts.
Gotta say also the motor home you have purchased looks very spiffy, lucky you!
Great news
Get rid of the STUFF and hit the road, you can come back for the family stuff and then tell them to get a life as you are off on yours.
Hope the MH lives up to your dreams and you enjoy your time out on the track.
Meet you somewhere on the road
Regards
Brian

Thanks Dawa and Brian, I am sure our paths will cross somewhere at sometime.
It has been interesting process packing goods away and putting things into different piles. I am finding that there is really no attachment to the stuff, and when I got into my book shelves I could map my life from the books on my shelves. I love books and yet found once again it was easy to sort them, once I read through dairies, personal development books, past training manuals from my working life, knowing I will never do that again, my interest is now the travel mags and camps 6 book. So the next phase of my life begins.
Still so much to do but it is happening seamlessly and easy so all good, and the bet bit is next week I will have my three sons at home on their own for the first time in many years. I love my daughter inlaws, however to spend time with just the boys will be wonderful. They are banking on the MH being ready next week so we can do a road trip to Mildura to collect it. It would be fun, and they have been warned if they fight I will still stop the car and they will have to get out and walk.
So outta here now and on with the packing again.
Have a good one everyone.

It's all "go" now - enjoy it - and yes, it is amazing how unattached you get from the stuff you once desperately needed and wanted!! I passed all my photos on to my daughter, she will be the keeper of them - lots of memories, but I have a new life now. And I love it!!

After less than 2 yrs up here in Biggy, I'm going through exactly the same shekon.
Can't believe I could accumulate so much in such a short time.
Have taken bags and bags to the local op shop. In fact got so embarrassed at taking so much, one load I took into the Childers op shop to spread it around.
Be glad when it's all done and dusted. So I feel for you shekon.
Congratulations on the beginning of what I found to be a marvelous experience travelling the highways and byways of Australia. I left Perth in 2009 and took a year to get back to Qld, thought I had put down roots but the urge to be back on the road has been in the back of my mind for the past 6 months. Hence I have purchased another caravan and once i finish my job in March I will be out and about again.
Initially you may not venture far from home but ultimately you will want to see just a little bit more.
And in regards to the stuff you need to toss out and the stuff you need to keep. I was once told you need to get rid of the old to make way for the new. And the nature of us as humans is that if we see an empty space we often have to fill it with something. Ask yourself is there any shelf, draw or cupboard that is absolutely empty?
Thanks Wendy, yes reality is about to hit, in Mildura at present ready to take possession of the new home. No turning back now, after 2 plus years talking about it and investigating all, now is the hour so to speak. Looking forward to it so much.
Hopefully we will see each other out there somewhere on the road.

We are heading to Mildura sometime today, Sharon, in Renmark at the moment - wish the sun would come out!!!! Do you have someone with you? Make sure you write everything down - it is daunting when they give so much info, and when you get home, it is gone from your head!!!
Take care - an drive safely on the way home!
