Archer Creek Rest Area Camps6 #236 is nominated as a 24 hour stop over but the sign on the site states 48 hours and my plan is the take up the 48 hour offer. There is no running water on tap but the creek looks good enough to drink, very swiftly moving and clear. Good flushing toilets and fire rings everywhere so tomorrow I will make a fire.
Found a couple of charred logs near a fire place on the creek and brought them up to my camp site, the first time on my own I started up the chain saw and cut the logs. Like Rod told me I pulled it down and cleaned afterwards. The rest of the kindling from the box together with the newly cut logs are rolled up in a tarp keeping dry.
No need of a fire tonight because last night I cooked up a Green Thai curry and there were leftovers. Cooked rice and in the pressure cooker cut vegetables and minced meat. Added the rice to the veges strained it added the curry paste and a can of cocoa milk and cooked it for another 15 minutes. Ended up with enough for 3 meals but it did taste good. This came from the Boulders and watching different couples prepare their meals.
Tuesday had a quiet day today ending up with an open fire and using the tripod for the billy and cooking potato in foil as well as the usual jaffle, followed by marshmallows in sticks. Had company round the fire and went inside at 8pm. All up an interesting evening using the fire as a cooking tool as well as a social focal point, exactly why I went to so much trouble and expense to be able to do. John
Getting very adventurous with your cooking John - can't wait!!!!! Saw a choofer on sale here in Burra for $119 - pretty sure your's didn't cost that much - it has a swinging mesh grate, and a swinging solid plate - for bbq is presume!

WOW John You are an inspiration to me and possibly to a lot of us GNs, or potential nomads. I hope I can be half as good as you on the road (and at cooking and takin pics) that will make me happy.
Cmon John its getting a bit like a master chef show, You had better be careful or we will get the kiwis to show you how it is done (sorry brandt and Lorraine)
Did you check out the Platypus downstream used to be quite a few back 1988 when we first camped there in our Jayco camper trailer. Our first step into wheeled type caravanning when the kids were young. Great to see everything is running along ok.
