Campaspe River between Charters Towers and Hughenden.

Left Fletcher Creek Friday morning with a couple of things to do before the weekend, the main one was to make sure that the MP3 player was received at Atherton and arrange for it to be transferred to a post office ahead of me in my travels. I have selected Longreach because if it isnt there I can wait it out in free camps.

Caught up with emails and voicemail and sorted out my awning position, I have found a caravan repairer on the Sunshine Coast who is a Carefree agent and he will fit it for me for $250, his price is reasonable all up $1400 and will get the special arms needed to fit the curved sides of coasters.

Campaspe River is the camp I have selected for an overnight stopover, the word River does not describe this site it is devoid of any moisture. The camp is fine very open and room for the largest rigs and has toilet facilities but no potable water.

One of the campers at Fletcher Creek had stayed at Campaspe River and had to deal with a taipan slithering into his tent, I walked down to the river bed and looked around for any wild life but the only sighting I had was a large grey kangaroo. The photo is from a distance away it surprised me from behind a tree but by the time it stopped hopping it was far away for the photo.   John
