John was actually scheduled for a hip replacement at Port Macquarie Hospital on Monday 9 Sept. and was all prepped and waiting for the surgeon to begin when he had a heart attack (John, that is!). Oddly enough, the surgeon declined to operate after that , and John was sent by air ambulance to the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. I flew down later and spent the week in nearby accommodation ($112/night for a small single room) when not at the hospital.
We got him home again yesterday and, although still a bit weak, he's almost back to normal. The new hip may have to wait for some months, though - disappointing for us as we were hoping to get to Adelaide soon to see our new grandson (my first!), born just two weeks ago.
It's been quite an eventful ten days, and now we'll just sit here at Wauchope and catch our breath for a bit until we work out what happens next. If anyone's in the general area, do let us know so we can meet and share a cuppa.
Cheers -
Andrea

Do hope he feels a lot better very soon. Relax and chill out - you need to look after yourself as well, Andrea - so you can both get back on the road with a clean bill of health. Take care.

Geez Andrea and John, go and buy a lottery ticket!! Great that John had that heart attack before surgery instead of under anaesthetic for 2 hours... it might have been nasty!!
