We are in Brisbane paying through the nose in a caravan parkno and looking for somewhere close to Brisbane to stay. We want to spend time near family after the long stint away but seems no showgrounds do camping. Did hear of one school on the Sunshine Coast but they are only at Xmas (handy if they would reply to). Beenleigh is not taking any campers for another month. I don't know who to contact to find out showground or cheap or free camping. Could someone point me in the right direction please before all my phone bill is over the cap. Seem to be going in circles with phone callscry

Try the Samford Show Ground, on the north side of Brisbane.

blankstareThank you for your replies. I have contacted two schools on the Sunshine Coast this morning but apparently they only do for big rigs and groups.no I find this discrimination as was told they do not want to take from the Parks on the coast. Big rigs are in the parks as we have seen. Also parks are totally booked out in this very poor country of ours and the prices during holidays is total robbery.
I will before handing over another $260 here in Brisbane for another week contact those given thank you.

Boonah in the south west - showground camping, as well as Kalbar showgrounds. Ipswich showgrounds also have camping.

Just had a good report on Lawnton Show grounds has Rocket said it is close to brisbane rail line , Samford is to far out of the way have had a look at it but gave it a miss , But if you want to be close to north coast can't go past Maleny showgrounds at $15 a night , also not far from rail link to Brisbane at Landborough .

We stayed in Flannigans Reserve on the scenic rim, Beaudesert way. Not too far from South/East brisbane. Was $8 each a night. No power. Plenty of water and showers and toilets. There is a manager onsite and a little shop. Firewood sold for $10 wheelbarrow load.

Lovely river...even went for a swim...and that was only last week!!

We are at Rochedale in the caravan park now and booking out Sunday. Southside of Brisbane is where we would prefer as we have all our family down Cleveland way and Carindale.
I did have an email from someone who has seen the site here but not able to get on and has property at Beenleigh. Says he has had Nomads stay before. Anyone??
Can get in at Samford although they only allow two weeks which is okay as we can move on.
We have had a couple of weeks at Kenilworth which was great and only $15 night. Maleny is only a three day stay at present. Too tired to be up and moving again so soon.
So much help much appreciated and hoping it is also helping others looking for places.
Can't get the link to open to showground camping.

Funny, in the last series of trips we have been free camping most nights for around 18 months and not once have we had even the slightest problem finding zero cost camps. Perhaps because we don't expect to find them in the middle of prime tourist destinations in the middle of peak tourist season. Doh!
